This third entry to the Crushing Low Stakes Poker Series is a fantastic blueprint for those wanting to take on the hyper-turbo games. It is the only book I have come across that is dedicated to hyper-turbos and will certainly benefit anyone with their short-stacked game. Turner breaks down the book into 3 distinct parts. In part one he talks about the foundations required, such as bankroll management, understanding the structure of the hyper-turbos and handling variance. In part two he discusses core hyper-turbo strategies, including the 2 levels of aggression and an illuminating section on the 5 biggest mistakes to avoid. Part three goes into even more depth, looking at opponent profiling and the types of software and resources that are going to benefit hyper-turbo players. Turner, just as he did so well in his first two books, provides a concise, yet all-encompassing framework, which is easy to read and easy to follow.

There are lots of low-stakes poker books, most of them are bad. The good ones fall into two camps, some teach good poker skills, but lack the simple details necessary to make consistent profits in specific types of games. The other good group have lots of specific information, but only tell you what to do, not why to do it. Crushing Low Stakes Poker is the only book I know that manages to do both. There are easier ways to learn how to do well in hyper turbos, but they won't set you on a road to a lifetime of profitable poker. There are other good poker education books, but they won't start making you money tomorrow.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, this is a book to digest fifteen to thirty minutes at a time, over a couple of weeks.

I think most players will prefer the written version of this book, as it repays careful back and forth study. However, I can't deny that the audiobook packs a lot of energy. If you absorb material better from hearing than reading, and if you gain from hearing the emphasis and tone, you may get more out of this than the written version. Best of all would be to get both.

It's rare to find a no-nonsense guide to a particular form of online poker (in this case hyper-turbo SNGs) which is specifically aimed at the needs of beginning players. If you've read Mike's two previous books in the 'Crushing Low Stakes Poker' series you'll know he prides himself on clear explanations and advice. Online poker has become a lot tougher to beat over the last few years, yet simple strategies can still be used to come out ahead if you have the right guide. Mike is that guide in this, his latest offering. He covers exactly what you should be focussing on as a new player to this exciting and fast-paced format. These include the importance of gaining crucial chips in short stack scenarios, opponent profiling and exploitation, the push/fold game, stealing the blinds and the need for aggression, making allowance for antes and variance, to name just a few. I enjoyed his use of humour to bring the material to life and finished the book with a number of concrete improvements I was able to make to my online game.

Vol 3 is a comprehensive book that covers everything you need to know about playing Hyper Turbos. Mike is thorough as he breaks down every aspect of playing Hyper Turbos with sound logic and flawless execution. The book explains the how and why Hyper Turbos differ from other SnG formats and offers great insight and knowledge as he shares his approach. No stone is left unturned as Mike moves from one subject to the next in a manner that is easy to digest with a flow that progresses seamlessly. If you're interested at making a successful run at Hyper Turbos, this book will put you in the best position in achieving your goals. You would be hard pressed to find training content that offers the this much valuable information at these prices anywhere else. This book is a slam dunk and buying this book is a no brainer. You really can't afford not to buy it if you ever plan on playing Hyper Turbos. I enjoy playing live single table Satellite tourneys into higher buyin events such as the WPT and wished I had stumbled upon this book a long time ago. It's a game changer. I feel more competent now that I have a better understanding of the areas where my game was lacking. I can't wait to apply the fundamentals I've learned from this book when the WPT comes around! This was a great book to get me in the right frame of mind to take on hyper turbo sit n gos. While some of the more advanced players may find the first half of the book to be too basic, I personally don't mind pounding the basics into my head to really solidify my poket foundation. This is a book for all levels of players but as you get deeper into the book, there is some really solid hyper strategy and also hand reviews to help put the advice Mike Turner gives into actual poker situations that you will run into in these light speed tournaments. For anyone serious about getting better at tournament play, and especially hypers, I would recommend memorizing the nash push/fold charts. Overall, I was really pleased with the book and the author himself too. I tweeted at him with a specific situation I was in (in a hyper sng) and he responded with his input within 24 hours. That was a pleasant surprise! Thanks Mike!
