About this listen

Hungry for a treasure trove of weird and wonderful facts beyond your wildest imagination? Then keep on reading…

Did you know that trees collaborate, communicate, and engage in chemical warfare?

Or that humans are better at smelling rain than sharks are at smelling blood?

Sometimes, life gets boring. Your sense of wonder often gets lost in a pile of chores, paperwork, and obligations.

With tons of boredom-busting facts and mysteries about plants, animals, history, space travel, and everything in between, you have a set of fail-safe conversation starters up your sleeve.

So, if you want to find out…

  • Why some people believe their families have been replaced by impostors
  • How tens of thousands of fireflies can synchronize with each other to blink in unison

Then this book is here to satisfy your curiosity.

In this enthralling collection of 60 fascinating, bizarre, and entertaining phenomena, you’ll discover:

  • The creature that never dies — it just goes back to the juvenile stage and starts all over again
  • How a slimy glob of single-celled organisms can remember, learn, and transfer knowledge
  • When science-fiction turns into real-life horror — how a fungus takes over ants’ bodies and turns them into zombies
  • The story of the “dancing plague” that swept through Europe 500 years ago, leaving people dead from exhaustion
  • The country where you can pay someone to apologize for you, or even quit your job
  • The mechanics of black holes and the possibility of “white holes”… places where time runs backward

And so much more.

This isn’t just any old collection of recycled factoids and half-true anecdotes — all of the information has been carefully curated, thoroughly researched, and fact-checked.

So, what are you waiting for?

This book is unbelievable so much information

I just finished listening to "Curiosities Revealed." This book is amazing. We always have game night with our family and I was wanting to bring something new to the table. This was the perfect book. It is well written and organized. Each chapter has a specific topic. I learned so much in this book I was surprised. I learned that jellyfish never die and just go back to a juvenile state. A pistol shrimp can punch with the force of a .22 caliber pistol. One of the coolest facts is fireflies can sink up their blinks. My favorite quote in the book was. “Sometimes the most extraordinary things happen in the most ordinary of places, you just need to look a little closer.” It really reminds you that the world is full of wonders, even in the simplest things. I highly recommend this book. So much fun to read and share.

Incredibly Entertaining

This eclectic collection of oddities and unusual facts is very entertaining. It reminds me of a favorite podcast that has many different topics and ideas that seem a bit jumbled together, yet the book manages to be fascinating. I have to admit that some of the topics interested me most like unusual biological and mental illnesses, interesting cultures, and historical events like the molasses flood, a war over a lost bucket, and Napolean being attached by rabbits. There is something in here for everyone including nature lovers, and science geeks as well. One thing I will mention is that the narrator speaks very slowly, so I had to listen at 1.5X speed. Truly, this would make a great podcast series.
