Publisher's summary

I'm going to kill my hunter. He's turned me into something that shouldn't be magically possible, so now I have this to deal with on top of everything else.

Well...I might as well make lemonade out of these freakin' lemons. Yep, that's right Mr. Broody Hunter, I'm going to take these newborn powers you thrust upon me and stop sitting on the sidelines. I'm done taking orders from others and you, and I'm done waiting for the supernatural forces to fix my problems.

I'm going to solve the mystery that's been weaving itself around me for far too long, especially when it becomes crystal clear that the key my nemesis has been seeking has been buried inside me all along.

We are now on the third book in the series. I'm not sure, but I think there are only going to be 4 books (and the last book is not out until October 2022 - it is currently Aug 2022) so there is going to have to be a lot of things tied up for before we get a conclusion.

Without going into spoilers, the story has changed its focus to almost completely being a story between Tala and Callan (the Fire Wolf). Or at least, they are the main focus for a lot of it. Tala has begun to learn more and more about...yes, you got it...her "forbidden power" as well as a new and even more dangerous power that she discovered. She is working with Callan to try to figure out how to use it because it is that unique and deadly. They are also still trying to find the ultimate "Bad guy" who was the person that kidnapped her sister in the first place. Apparently, he has been kidnapping supernatural's and DESPERATELY wants Tala to add to his collection. He (the bad guy Jacob) calls her his "Key".

Now we have several forces working together to try to find Jacob, but Tala is having to be held in a safe house separate from her sister and her loved ones. Fortunately, (or is it?) that place is with Callan, who has definitely decided that Tala is his mate.

Here is where I REALLY had issues. Tala's behavior towards Callan just annoyed the heck out of me. Make up your mind. You don't want him because you're his mate? Because you think that he ONLY wants you because his wolf wants you? I get that in certain circumstances, I really do. But the events that have already occurred and the events occurring now are different and that makes the entire situation different. At least TALK to the guy. Tell him your concerns. If I were him, I would have left you a while ago to your own devices, or taken you to your sister, but what do I know?

The ending of this book showcases how far the writing has come from the beginning of the series. The world building has become more complete, the characters are more fleshed out and the story arc is definitely growing to its climax.

There is also an event at the end of this book that is heartbreaking. Certain people (*cough cough* you know who you are) behave badly, but the actions are plausible and while not necessarily okay, sort of understanding. In the grand scheme of things there is a lot going on. That is not necessarily an excuse, but jeez people...learn to communicate better.

In the beginning (during the first 2 books), I was continuing with the series, but I wasn't necessarily hooked. Now - I am completely looking forward to the ending of this series and will be eagerly awaiting the 4th and final book.

from song independent woman to clingy, whiny, & needy.

I hated this book most. all the main character dd was whine and complain.
poor me, boohoo, cry cry - ugh.
and there are other Flippin' words than "but" in the English language... a thesaurus is easily found with a Google search.
I actually used it to fall asleep with.

What a rollercoaster!

Have you ever tried forcing two magnets of the same pole together, but no matter what you do, they just won’t connect? That’s what I think of when I read about Kaillen and Tala. I just want them to be together without any “outside forces”, (or themselves) ruining it! Is that too much to ask?!

On another note: I’m really wanting a backstory on Barnabas. He is so hilarious and I feel like it’d be so interesting to learn more about him and his pirate days.

Tala's adventure keeps getting better!

Love this series! It keeps getting more exciting! Really like the new characters that we are introduced to. I would really like to hanf with Kaillen's friebds. I was excited when a character from Krista's Supernatural Institute series made an appearance!

Rene Kim does a very good job with all the different characters she is voicing.

I enjoyed this read/listen.

Wow!

This ends on a cliffhanger, which is expected as it's book 3. But, wow! I'm so drawn into this story and very much looking forward to the final installation. I have to admit, I was not a fan of Tala for the first half of the book, but the second half was much better as she adjusted to everything new in her life. The Hunter was a great, consistent character throughout. Great narration - good range throughout the story.
