About this listen

Jinta

Nothing’s easy when you’re fated to a yakuza boss.

I’m possessed by an ancient, powerful kitsune hellbent on chaos and destruction. Until we can find a way to lift the curse, I’m a threat to everyone I hold dear. Tensions within the Namikawa-kai, hunters lurking in the shadows, and vengeful ex-boyfriends want to thwart us at every step.

All I want is to be with Raiden, my mate, the man I love. If we stand together, we can get through it all. But when I see a new, ugly side to Raiden, I can’t help but question if we really want the same things.

When the time comes to run, will Raiden leave it all behind for me?

Raiden

I’ll destroy anyone who hurts my mate—but I’m the one hurting him the most.

I’m the boss now. This is my pack. Tokyo is my city. No one will ever control me again. As I fall deeper into my new responsibilities, Jinta and I grow more estranged.

When betrayal strikes from within my own pack, Jinta is the one who pays the price. Jinta has no place in my world. He’s a pure ray of sunshine in the darkness of my life, and I can’t be the reason he gets hurt. I don’t deserve him. Never have.

I’ve got to let him go. Before the shadows of my world consume the only person I’ve ever loved.

Curses & Kitsune is the final book in A Paranormal Yakuza Duet and concludes with a hard-won Happily-Ever-After.

Fantastic! Absolutely Loved It!

I absolutely loved this book! I'd read book one- Secrets and Sake- and then listened to it in audiobook and fell in love even more. So I was salivating for book two to find out what would happen to Jinta with the kitsune curse and Tamano, Raiden who now leads the Namikawa-kai yakuza wolves, and the dangers they face from both Takada's rival clan, and the hunters coming after them.

Apart from the action, danger, and suspense- there were battles both outside and from within. Both Jinta and Raiden have powerful insecurities and demons they harbor from their pasts. Both feel inadequate for the other and doubt themselves regardless about how powerful their feelings for each other are. There were twists and turns, and both at times had to face their pasts. The story was quite emotional for me at times. One particular thing that happened affected me so strongly I had to stop and take a break. But I really liked how that situation was handled overall. I loved when the dynamic between Jinta and Raiden grew beyond what either of them thought it would be. (And my God was it hot!) I loved how everything came together by the end.

No spoilers, but I really wish the bonus epilogue of a certain celebratory event was narrated with the audiobook! I loved it and even though it's short, wanted to hear it out loud.

I really hope to get more in this world, see my guys again!, and see more of Ren and her new position. Because she is and will remain awesome! I also want to see more of Hirano.

Nick Cracknell did another fantastic job narrating this book! I loved the emotion he put into it and the voices of the different characters. I'm searching now for more of his work because I need to hear him narrate more. He had the perfect voice for this world.

I can't recommend this book- this duet- more!

What a finale!

I enjoyed this finale. There are lots of twists and turns that all merge for one purpose.

What a fantastic end to the series!

This is book two in the series, A Paranormal Yakuza Duet, by CJ Ravenna.

This was a fantastic end to the series, I definitely had high expectations and wouldn't have expected anything less after how much I liked book 1. Nick Cracknell, the narrator, did another amazing job with this book. The narration definitely brings the book to life.

This is a dark Mafia (Yakuza) romance with werewolves and a kitsune. Expect violence, betrayal, blood, and death. If you want a fluff story, this one is not it.

This story consists of two books and it definitely needs to be read/listened to in order, after all it's called a duet for a reason.

Opposites attract, fated mates, childhood trauma, self-absorbed parents

WOW!!!

I listened to the first book in this series and it was fire! So, I was so excited to listen to this one! I had never heard of the narrator prior to the first book, but BOY was he good! He really voiced the characters uniquely and consistently, making it so easy to tell who was speaking. I have to let you know--I am not normally a paranormal fan, but I was SOLD after listening to Secrets and Sake, and couldn't wait for the final installment of this thrilling duet.
What I really loved about this one is that Jinta is really the focus, and he is a sweet, innocent guy that is stuck in a paranormal nightmare, when all he really wanted was to be with his love, Raiden. Instead, people are threatening him left and right, he is turned into a scary creature, and he is treated like garbage by his family.
Without giving too much away, I will let you know that sweet Jinta and sexy Raiden get their wish and a wonderful HEA, with some nice lovescenes along the way!

Enjoyable

I think my biggest issue in this one is it felt like we were rehashing issues we basically solved in the first, so it felt a little repetitive to me. But I did enjoy it, and this author can definitely hit the angsty notes I like!

I will say the narrator didn’t seem as off in this one but they still did some of those effects I can’t stand for voices.
