About this listen

I paid the ultimate price when I took the gamble to save my mate's soul.

Ferry

Ferryman. The Grim Reaper. La Muerte. La Pelona. Shinigami. Charon.

I've been called many names over the millennia, all thanks to my role in Hell—ferrying dead souls over the river Styx.

Few know the demon behind the legend, how I came to be here, or the freedom I sacrificed to save the man I love.

Now, I'm free to find him again. The problem? He doesn't remember me. And he's straight.

Leo fell madly in love with me once before. Will he fall again before it's too late?

Leo

All my life, I've felt like something is missing. Neither my job as a firefighter, my brother Matty, nor my ex-girlfriends have been able to fill that hole.

When a mysterious stranger approaches me in a bar, I find myself captivated.

I've never been attracted to men before, but I can't seem to resist him.

Why is it that spending time with Ferry feels so…right? So familiar?

Patience is a fated-mates, second-chance PNR romance. The first in the Damned Connections series, each book will follow a different couple as they find their HEA. Although better listened to in order, these books can stand alone.

Enjoyable story

Great story, characters and narrarators. Enjoy this world and all it's characters and especially how The Reckless Damned, brothers and their mates showed up in this book too. We met Ferry in The Reckless Damned, series and my curiosity was piqued, this book did not disappoint.

Bravo

Another impressive beginning to what I am certain will be another extraordinary series, akin to the "Reckless Dammed." This book was exquisitely written and narrated with such vivid imagery that one can profoundly sense the characters' emotions, the sorrow and loss, but also the joyous moments that touch the heart in a manner that few have achieved.

Love this series!

I’ve been waiting for this to come on audible and it was so worth the wait! Leo and ferry 💕 ugh so cute. Ferry in particular, is such a cinnamon roll. Narrator did a great job. Can’t wait for the subsequent books to be available on audible.

Such A Great Start to this Book Series

I loved the Reckless Damned series! Now I’m ready for the Damned Connections series, and this connection is a BEAUTIFUL beginning to the series. I hate there will have to be a wait for book 2, but I know it will be worth the wait.

Quite literally couldn’t get enough

Not only did I love this story but the voice actors is what made it for me. I seriously love everything about it and can’t wait to give the rest of the series a listen.

Good story. Good narration.

The romance of this story had some very emotional moments. This book took the star-crossed lovers trope to some epic levels. Getting to know the characters was an interesting adventure. I didn't quite connect with Ferry. Leo was relatable, but Ferry had Superman syndrome. In my nerdy comic book world, that means he is so powerful, mere humans can barely relate to his experiences.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I didn't have much trouble understanding the story even though this series is connected to another. The dual narration team gave a great performance. I might venture into the next book someday, but this one worked fine as a stand-alone.

Ferry and Leo

It's been a while since an audiobook has ripped my heart out, put it in a wood chipper, then somehow glued it back together before saying "oh I think this belongs to you." And I would kindly ask them to do it again. Actually... kindly is the wrong word... I would beg them to do it again.

This is an absolutely phenomenal audiobook. Dan and Will are the perfect audio combo. And not only did they do the MCs, Ferry & Leo, justice but also the side characters as well. Their performance was a 10/10 for me.

Now for the story... I have got to quit falling in love with fictional characters lol. Ferry and Leo were so well written and Lark wrote them in a way that made me feel like I knew them. Ferry had a vice grip on my heart from the very beginning (I have a soft spot for the grim reaper). I could feel his pain and his longing for Leo. I was grieving with him. 68 times Lark... 68 friggin times you shattered this man's heart! You are EVIL!

"I took one final look at the long line of stones before me. Some greyed. Some covered in moss. Some disintegrating entirely thanks to the time that had passed. Sixty-eight graves for my Leof. Sixty-eight times my heart had been broken."

"Leof wouldn't know who I was, but that didn't matter. I'd made him fall in love with me once, and I could do it again."

Since the prologue started off with a mess of tears and shattered hearts I knew I was in for an emotional ride. But getting to experience Leo falling for Ferry all over again was worth it. While this was an emotional journey, it wasn't all broken hearts. There's a whole cast of characters that will make you laugh, cry, and question your sanity at times.

So was it a bumpy ride... yes. Was it worth it... I would do it all over again.

Prepare to Have Feelings

This book had me crying in the prologue, and also at several points throughout the story. The author does a great job communicating Ferry and Leo's feelings clearly. I would have liked a little more depth to Leo's Awakening, but overall the plot was solid and kept me invested. The narrators did good as well, though one stood out as more enjoyable than the other (no idea who is who). The VA for Ferry was overall a little flat, I would have liked more shaping to the sentences, but it wasn't significant enough to pull me out of the story.
