Publisher's summary

Almost everyone in Excelsior, Minnesota - craftsy and non-craftsy alike - has turned out for the art fair. So when an artisan is murdered there, the list of suspects is practically endless. Betsy Devonshire wants to help out in the police investigation. Her best friend, Officer Jill Cross, confides that they have a lead: A bloody footprint in the woodcarvers' booth matches that of a local youth. But when Betsy can't keep the news to herself, Jill gives Betsy the cold shoulder. Everyone's on pins and needles - and when the family of the kid in question asks Betsy to prove his innocence, she must first regain Jill's trust, then figure out who had designs on the dead designer.…

A nice cozy mystery

This was an interesting book and I enjoyed reading it. Ferris does a good job of developing all of the characters and establishing motives. However, if you are a mystery lover you will probably figure out the villain right away. Even though I was 90% percent sure of who did it I still wanted to know why and see the development of my favorite characters in the book. You won't be disappointed if you listen to this book.

Oxymoron

Monica Ferris’ mystery series is more of a themed novella with an incidental mystery, which is quite different from the cozy mysteries I’ve been listening to, but are enjoying. However, there is one strong irritation I have of her writings. The author writes about people going to church but have them (mainly men) using God’s name in vain. That’s an oxymoron and for me a very big offense against my nature. Not all her stories have profanity in them but when they do appear, for me, it’s like someone suddenly hit me over the head with a mallet. For this I will not give this story four stars.

holds my interest

I enjoyed the story, it moves along without becoming boring, I enjoy sewing so the subject of the needle shop does interest me. I like how she puts the pieces together.

I just love these simple listens

This book was just fun and mysterious. Although I figured this one out, some of these books I haven’t figured out and have been quite surprised. I love that I learn something in each of these books, this one introduced me to stitching term and techniques I never heard of before, also the art world was interesting to learn about.

Wonderful Cozy Mystery!

I love this series! Cutwork is hard to put down; the plot is laid out well as any of the other books in the needle craft series.

Fan

The books are interesting and this one was really informative about artists and how they are placed in the world of a known person.

Another fun listen

I so enjoy these books. Great light listening that moves at a wonderful pace. This one has quite a funny section where modern art was discussed in a sort of brutal way, guess the author doesn’t much care for it lol. Made me laugh.

'Monica Ferris'- stories are clever & Entertaining

Cut work was the 4th Needlework Mystery I have listened to. I enjoy her story presentation and the layout along with the ongoing information regarding the needle-shop and that particular area around Lake Minnetonka and the area. These stories have really made my Spring/Summer yard-house work very enjoyable.
** one note (minor) the enounciation of several of the local towns does need an adjustment (Wayzata, Edina & a few others...😉-
