Light Hearted Cozy Mystery

I love that this cozy mystery involved a profession other than cooking or being an amateur sleuth. Daisy is very relatable and down to Earth. She's not neurotic, super thin, or has frizzy curly hair, which seems to be a theme sometimes of cozies. She does have an unhealthy obsession with cupcakes, which explains why she's not super thin, but she doesn't seem to second guess herself and doesn't have low self esteem from being larger than average. She has her heart broken, falls in love again, solves murders all while decorating for a living.

On the downside, it's AI narrated which is distracting when the AI mispronounces words or names. I also dislike the lack emphasis when telling the story; certain lines and passages would be more impactful if read by a person who knew when to put more enthusiasm or questions in their spoken words. This is a good series and the AI narrative does not do it any justice! It's not so bad you want to turn it off, but it's enough that what could be a successful series will wind up being mostly just okay.

To be fair, I only got two hours in.

The story was infuriating to me. Maybe not everyone would agree.
So, the main character has a friend who married a rich artist for his money. This friend used to be the main model for the artist. After they married she didn't want to model for him anymore and wouldn't let anyone else model for him either. So now he's trying to change his style and paint landscapes - and isn't very good at it. But, let's all be mad at him because he's a little grumpy. Let's support our poor gold digger friend for having to put up with him! Then, since no art is going out, no money is coming in. It's time to cut off the spoiled brat adult kids. He announces this at dinner, in front of visitors, and is killed by the next morning. No one mentions the cutting off of the kids to the police apparently. The police are now out to get the gold digger/controling wife, ignoring all other signs and arguments. I got to how we must try to figure this out and save the wife. I don't like any of these people, including the lead character who dosent sound any better of a person than the wife.
Except the poor dead guy, he seemed pretty cool.

I must say the virtual voice isn't isn't too bad in this book. That was a plus.
