Virtual Voice Does Not Match Story

I have listened to many books that utilize virtual voice. This one was NOT good.

The narration utilized a British accent and British English. (sachets instead of tea bags, stone instead of pounds for weight, etc.) The main character was from Wisconsin and the story takes place in Florida...both in the United states. More care needs to be taken when matching narration to a book.

The stories were enjoyable, but marred by the British narration. I am sure the author would be disappointed by this "match'. If this had not been such a poor choice, I would have given it 5 stars across the board.

poor narration

British accent for characters who SHOULD have Midwest and florida accents. British slang..really? mispronunciation of words, one book had the pronunciation of the abbreviation for P.I. as pie, multiple times and British pronunciation of other words. bad choice on the publishers end.

Don't use the Vitrual voice.

There were too many British words used for a southern Florida place. Stone instead of pounds, words pronounced wrong for American English. if you're going to write about a place use the verbiage for that area.

The narration is a no

I don't care for the computerized narration. It distracts from the story, and the inflection is too far off. The actual story may well be fine, but I didn't find it an enjoyable listen.

No swearing

It is so good to hear a book that has intriguing stories, helping one another through trouble and craziness. Not only death and intrigue but without cussing and finding the murder!

Loved the stories.

Really enjoyed the stories, the characters and their growth. What I didn't like and was a huge distraction from the books was the AI reading the books. Absolutely horrible. The voice was the same throughout. Hard to tell who was speaking, all the characters sounded alike. Instead of it saying "give me the 411" it said give me the four hundred and eleven. It had a British accent and pronounced the words like a Brit would. The characters were all from the US and lived in Florida. I'll never listen to another AI reading the book. Instant turn off.

Soft murder mystery

Mostly predictable. No gore or foul language which was appreciated. Enjoyed the author adding in a bit of mental health issue with the main character having panic attacks. Naration was not good. Took away from the story often putting me to sleep.
