About this listen

It was easy to love her.

Kat knew better than to get involved with a man like me, all tattoos and muscle. No one in Brooklyn thought it would last, but I wasn't about to let her get away.

I got her in my bed, and I ruined her for anyone else. I made her mine.

I gave her everything but the truth.

But you can't outrun your sins forever. And there's no end to the damage mine will cause if she ever finds out the truth.

Author note: Things aren't what they seem. This book is not about cheating. Damaged is the first book in this duet.

Almost returned without finishing. A 1st for me

I have NEVER dropped a book before finishing it. I feel manipulated by this story for the purpose of turning what should be one book into a duet. I will not download the second book because I have genuine fear that I will have to sit through the tedium of listening to 2 narcissistic adults that act like kids. It’s not “angsty”. It’s irritating. I love her books but she really misses the mark with this one.

Well that was disappointing

I do not like the story. At no point in time while reading did I ever care about Kat and Evan and their struggling marriage. I don't care that Evan has messed up and Kat's emotions are all the over the place between wanting him and not wanting him. I personally think their both being stupid and need to get over it because she knew the type of man she married. Evan's screw ups are not good, but he just needs to fix it instead of running to Kat to tell her how much he loves her like a lost puppy. Get yourself together and fix things.

I thought the narration was ok. I don't know why I didnt care for Shannon Gunn's narrating for this book. Probably because of how Evan sounded to me. Ellie McClendon was good. I like her. I just feel like I couldn't concentrate on the narration because I disliked the story so much.

Was the female narrator bored?

The female narrator made it difficult to continue listening to this audible boook. There wasn’t much inflection in her voice, almost like she was bored.
The male narrator was much better, his accent sounded a bit like Brooklyn, Jersey maybe. Either way, there was more emotion that came thru his voice.
Story wise - repetitive, VERY repetitive! It seemed like it took forever to get to the core of what was trying to push this story forward. I wanted to quite three different times but pushed forward since I paid for the audio.
I’ve read better from this author.
I hope to read better from her again.

Repeat repeat repeat

I liked the basic story line however the “I love you” - “leave now”, “I Love you” - “get out” give the poor guy a break. The first time he screwed up after 5 years and its over? Over all..... Kat is a holier than thou snob and he’s a whiny “poor poor pitiful me” man child. I really hope book 2 is not more of the same.

Awesome Narration

Oh. My. Goodness! What a cliffhanger! I am so thankful that I have the second book right now so I do not have to wait to see what happens.

This isn’t the typical book that Willow usually writes. Well, I haven’t listened all her books yet, but only the mafia related ones. This book was so suspenseful, but yet had a love story in it. It drove me crazy at times because I wanted to shake both Evan and Kat because they both were being so stubborn, but we can’t have a good love story without that, right?

I usually try to guess what happens in a book, and I’m pretty good at figuring it out. This book, however, I have no clue where she’s heading with it.

Mystery

This is a bit slow going , from the female role, as she is winey and slow. However, our male is more interesting and roles the story forward...enough that I must finish book 2 . The story is slow to evolve but worth the read

Damaged is devastating

I don't think I've shed so many tears over a book. It's a book that sucks you in completely. You feel compassion for each of them, but so much has happened. I think Evan's boss set Jacob on Kat as a disruption.

Damaged

A whole book of people wallowing in their misery. The whole story is never told.
