About this listen

The No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller.

At just eight years old, Jodie is violent, aggressive and extremely challenging. Five carers in four months have been unable to cope, but there is one last hope: Cathy Glass…

As Jodie begins to trust Cathy and make progress, shocking details about her past come to light. No one had noticed the glaring signs of abuse by those who were supposed to love her most.

One of Cathy’s earliest and bestselling memoirs, Damaged is a heartbreaking story that proves just how valuable foster carers are for society’s most vulnerable children.

Truly heartbreaking

I definitely would recommend this touching story. What amazing love and care Cathy Glass offers her foster children - even those who are emotionally, physically and mentally broken like Jodi, the one in this story. My heart breaks just trying to imagine the horrors young Jodi had to live through. Our world needs more people like Cathy Glass!

Forensic Point of View

As as Forensics Nurse I see such a limited glimpse into the world of my patients and how the navigate through the system. I am glad I listened!

My Life in a box

omg Cathy. hearing this reminds me so much of my life. not to this extent, but so much of what happened to Jodie happened to me. social Services NEVER got involved and I know it was infear of the males in my life. I am 50 now but throughout my life I have my moments of the shut down. I have 2 children and a husband not the father to either ,but even with them I still don't feel I've been loved nor safe like I should have been all them years ago. I to have D.I.D and that alone is so much to deal with on a daily. tiresome for the family because they don't know who or what tomorrow will bring.

This is a great insight to foster care

This explains in depth how broken our system is and it gives great insight into the foster care system and how hard it is to be part of but also how rewarding it can be.

Damaged:the heartbreaking true story of a forgotten child

Disgusting, shocking and inspiring. Thank God we have people like Cathy in our world. I’m not sure I am glad I read this book but it is a must read. It shows the cruelty of adults and the beauty and strength of others.

Brutal but Educational

It was heart wrenching and I had to fast forward almost everything Jodie said about her biological parents. But I learned a lot about how to respond to the foster children I plan to have. It's the perfect book for those who are interested in foster care.

Sad, heartbreaking story

Heartbreaking is just one of the words you can use to describe this book. I hope one day Jodi can have happiness she was robbed of.

Absolutely wonderful book. Cathy explains everything so well. As everyone said she is a saint and this ended as happily as it could. Thank you Cathy and Lord help others out there in similar situations.
