Revenge. Murder. Ballet?
Vampire spirit Gray wants to hunt demons. Unfortunately, the foolish mortals at SPECTR have put his host, Caleb, their lover John, and their partner Zahira on desk duty. Gray longs to leave Charleston with John, but if they flee, SPECTR will make them the hunted.
A series of paranormal murders returns the team to the field, at least temporarily. Ballerinas are being murdered by a vila, a demon that kills with dance. If they can't stop the deadly attacks in time, one of Zahira's friends may become the next victim.
And while they track the demon, an unknown entity has begun to track Gray....

Longer review: One of the things I love about Jordan, as a writer, is her anility to create a very layered world that gets richer as the tales evolve. In Dancer with Death we have:
a) a nasty etheric creature whose darkness is rooted in dance,
b) further hints of another creature in the shadows,
c ) the strengthening of the working relationship of John, Zahira, and Caleb, and
d) Barillo still being an @@@@@.
There's enough angst to please without drawing the reader so far down that discomfort overwhelms tinged with a nice side order of, "If you'd just communicate a whole raft of problems could be avoided." I expect to see some of the detritus from that raft show up in the next books.
One of the things I noticed, and in someways it's a sad thing that it's noticeable, but Jordan gives us, amongst the cast of characters, a transman and a Muslim agent. These things should not stand out but too many writers (Western Authors) still limit their characters to the white, anglosaxon, heteronormative palette with a nod to people of color when in fact contemporay fiction should showcase all of humanity. Maybe in another 20 years this will no longer be a things but in the current world of publishing it still stands out and I love any author who paints with a positive ;light outside the lines.
Add Brad Langer's narration and, well, let's just say Ididn't even bother waiting for my next credit. This Audio was an instant buy.
This series just keeps getting better.
