About this listen

A brand-new, deliciously wicked romance series from USA Today best-selling author Kerrigan Byrne. The Goode Girls aren't simply good, they're stunning.

Mercy Goode is only truly good at one thing: finding mischief wherever she goes. This knack thrusts her in the path of Adrian McKendrick, a cold-hearted rogue with a dangerous past and a devious objective. As a gentleman used to behaving badly, Adrian doesn’t think twice about seducing the desirable Goode Girl.

And he has never had a woman resist him...until now.

Derek Perkins is ALL you need

I find these “duet” readings incredibly annoying but love all Kerrigan Byrne’s books and characters and Derek Perkins that I listen anyway.

Not A Fan of Stella

No, I am not a fan of Stella Hunter and her fake British accent. She sounded too juvenile and isn't a good fit with the impeccable Derek Perkins. Bianca Amato would have been a better partner. Hot sex at 9. Storyline was meh. I liked the other Goode Girls better.

Good story

I liked this story & didn’t expect alot of detail since it’s one of Kerrigan Byrne’s shorter books. Kerrigan Byrne is one of my top 3 authors. I absolutely love her Victorian Rebels series & have listened to the entire series numerous times. A story can be great, but when it’s an audible book, the narrator can make or break it. There is no one like Derek Perkins! In my opinion he is the absolute BEST at narrating historical romance. In my romances I like a real man’s man with of course a tender side & Derek Perkins’ voice is incredible at giving this to the listener. He will make your heart swoon! I hate to be negative but I didn’t care for Stella Hunter as a narrator. To me it sounded like she’s just reading lines off a page & putting no emotion whatsoever into them. I’m not familiar with her so maybe she’s new?? A good narrator truly makes the book come alive to the listener. They make you hate when you have to pause it & look forward to when you can hit play to continue the book. As much as I ADORE the Kerrigan Bryne/Derek Perkins combo, I’m gonna pass on the other book they did with Stella Hunter. Her voice sounds monotone a lot of the time to me. Flat when there should be emotion. And when they would switch between the narrators & go to her, the sound quality wasn’t the same. I hate to say this, but it sounded unprofessional. Like I said, a narrator can truly make or break a listening experience. In my dream world it would be Derek Perkins & Justine Eyre as a narration combo.
On a positive note, I did enjoy the story.

Liked the Hero

I liked the hero but not so much the heroine. I thought Mercy was a bit mean-spirited and self centered. All of the other sisters and their husbands are very likable. I’m confused. In the book summary the hero’s name is Adrian, in the audible version the hero’s name is Raphael???Anyway it’s a good series. I like it because the men have bad boys backgrounds. I recommend series.

Love the way Byrne’s stories fit together

Mercy was an engaging heroine, Her character is fully developed and consistent, which I appreciate having read so many HR’s where that is not the case. Mercy is strong-willed and brave whether she is standing over a dead body, facing off against a villain, or insisting on her first sexual encounter. Raphael is just what an HR hero should be: big, handsome, charming, and dangerous, and not looking for love.
There was a nice symmetry in the story with Mercy’s devotion to her sister and Raphael‘s love for his brother. I enjoyed the role Sir Carlton Morley, the hero of a previous Goode Girls book, played in this story. Toward the end of the book there is a tantalizing foreshadowing of Felicity’s story, I happened to have read that one first, but now I’m going to go back and listen to it again.

PLEASE HAVE DERRICK PERKINS NARRATE

Please have Derrick Perkins narrate the full book next time. He lends a certain weight and gravitas to the sweeping gothic style of the books and I much prefer him over any other narrator, especially for Kerrigan Byrne novels.
I must admit, this wasn’t my favorite work from Kerrigan, but I gave it five stars all the same. I’ll have another listen, and maybe next time I’ll enjoy it more.
I will forever be fan of her beautiful words and thrillingly dangerous heros. I’ll be buying the next book!

mediocre

Performance was perfect but the story was empty. story seemed a bit rushed,, I definitely think this could have been better. hoping for better with the brother's story. I was definitely disappointed in the Heroine she did not deliver.
