About this listen

When Destiny was only a child, her family was murdered and she was transformed into a Carpathian: a powerful and shadowy creature of the night, but not quite a vampire. Destiny shares a telepathic connection with Nicolae, her mentor. But now Nicolae needs to find her, or he may lose his soul and succumb to darkness forever.

New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan skillfully weaves strands of the paranormal and romance to create her suspense-filled novels.

Critic reviews

"This out-of-the-ordinary romance is deeply sensuous with exquisitely detailed lovemaking and equally vivid paranormal battle scenes involving shape-shifting, running up walls, heaving fireballs, and dragons erupting from the earth. Although this is part of Feehan's popular Dark series, it's quite accessible to readers new to the world of the Carpathians." ( Booklist)

Dark Destiny

Great story but the narrator's voice had me picturing a group of elderly carpathians. It made it very hard to really see the book as I knew it should be. I can't bring myself to listen the next in the series since it has the same narrator.

Christine's done it again!

What can I say...I have been hooked on Christine Feehan's books since the first time I picked one up and couldn't put it down; she has quickly become one of my favorite writers! This book has all the fire and ice any reader could ask for. Where can I get a Carpathian?! LOL!!

Great story

One of the most unique stories of the series, however the performance of the narration left much to be desired. Some chapters ran together in the reading and others had long pauses. And in a few places it seems like part of a sentence is missing. The story line itself makes up for that though!!

One of my FAVORITES!

I am a huge fan of Christine Feehan and the dark series. It has been several years since I have indulged in these wonderful stories that I all but committed to memory many years ago. This is one of my absolute favorites! I loved the narration… He did a wonderful job! I would highly recommend this book. It literally sucks you in to where you feel as though you are a silent spirit witnessing everything firsthand. Brilliant!

Great story, great narration!

I enjoyed the narration as much as the story. The characters were developed nicely. and yet another community is now aware and in support of the Carpathians! A little tragedy, a little.romance, a few twists and surprises! I truly enjoyed this one.

Depth of and uniqueness of characters.

I read nearly all of the dark series and truly enjoy the unique story line and strong, sensitive characters. Well worth the read.

Chick is annoying

I have some issues with the female lead character. Yes I know she has gone through some very traumatic things and therefore has issues to work through. But she is petty childish and most times just stupid. I love the story line and the action, but the female lead drives me a tad crazy.

Good continuation of series

Book13: Nicolae Von Shrieder & Destiny. Good, though not in my top faves. Vampire blood sample, organized vampire groups & Vikirnoff's search for the mystery woman in the picture all set up future story lines. Ferrone does a better job than Griffith, but the women narrators have done a better job. The men sound like they're on stage playing a drag queen. It just doesn't do that good of a job conveying the story. I do like the recordings with Phil Gigante.
