About this listen

Mankind’s dominance has come to an end …

When a terrorist group detonates a small nuclear device at a level four biohazard facility, it releases the infection vectors stored within and creates a contagion that devastates the planet.

Entire species are wiped out, while those that survive are genetically transformed into prehistoric mutations of their former self.

Secret Service agent Alex Durham is assigned to protect the president. As the dangers of the expanding nuclear fallout become apparent, he accompanies the country’s leadership as they seek shelter from the impending contagion.

When they emerge weeks later, the global aftermath of the terrorist attack leaves the survivors struggling to find safety in a world that has regressed millions of years. Creatures from the past and those newly created rise to challenge mankind’s dominance.

All that matters now is survival …

Walt Browning, the bestselling author of Extinction Survival, returns with this harrowing post-apocalyptic survival series. Don’t miss this tale about people trying to survive the consequences of man’s arrogance, all while somehow maintaining their humanity.

Was very fast paced, very little repetition, constantly thought provoking.
Am anxiously awaiting book two, please hurry it up!!!!!
With my background, I can imagine something like this really happening.

Fantabulous!!!

The characters are a masterpiece of love and hate! The support and realism of MC and teammates lifts the heart and keep you invested throughout the book. On the other hand, some characters, are almost too well written, giving the listeners a very clear desire for "Mercy" (as shown to the Majority Leader 👍😁) Walt please keep writing! There's so much more to tell, please keep it coming as soon as possible!

I'll start this review with what I wrote about Walt Browning after reading his Extinction Survival Series:
"This four-book series was superb and I'll always recommend it. It flowed nicely and tied up well with the final book. Walt Browning is a gifted author who now has a spot on my very short list of authors I watch for new books.
Bravo Zulu, Mr. Browning!"

My watch list pinged for Darwin Contagion and I got excited. I wasn't disappointed. This book has perhaps one of the most bold plot lines I've ever seen. At the beginning of the book I was thinking "Oh Walt, did you bite off more than you can chew?" The answer is no. He pulled it off and then some. If you like EOTWAWKI books, you're going to love this one. It's exciting, has characters you care about, and it's a bold original idea. Can't wait for the next book.

Finally Another Browning Book!

All the characters are depthless generic stereotypes of what you’d expect to see on a straight to video B movie. Im not a nuclear weapon scientist but I’m pretty sure 6” thick titanium vessels containing “altered viruses”. Couldnt survive a 2kt detonation a mere floor or two below. Seems like it just would have made more sense to use explosives since it is set in the future and why wouldn’t there be better boom stuff. Finally, the main characters have easy instant access to the most advanced AI in the world and they don’t even consider asking it whats happening when initial reports come out. I tapped out about 3 hours or so in.

Not Good

I prefer the authors previous works but I got this on sale. Worth listening. I don’t know if it’s worth a credit though.

Eh. Not great but good
