Wilderness survival? With nothing but a knife and hatchet?

When you're alone, and the wilderness is Earth at the end of the ice age?

Not all the dangers come from predatory animals....

Would you listen to Darwin's World: An Epic of Survival again? Why?

Yes, There is so much action here that I am sure I missed some on the first listening.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Darwin's World: An Epic of Survival?

Fighting with the bear.

Which character – as performed by Tom Lennon – was your favorite?

Matt. HE sounded exactly as I pictured Matt.

Any additional comments?

I never expected this book to have as much action as it does. You really grow to care very much about the characters and I really want to get on to the next chapter in the series and see how they move on from here.

Far Better than I expected

The narration was more like the robotic voice that gives information, following the radio emergency tone.

Poor narration

Great story line that combines an Ice Age location full of scary dramatic adventures that only exists because of a real Sci-Fi future. People from the future send the characters back in time. Very unique and creates a compelling adventure. Multi-dimensions, time travel, saber tooth tigers, and seriously bad guys all in one book! Heck there is even some sex on the sidelines.

A little too much detail on some of the survival techniques for me as I am not an outdoor adventure type, but I can see how some people might love that.

I really liked the narrator and he kept me interested in what was going on through the entire book.

Will definitely be looking for the second in the series.

Like Nothing I have read or heard before!

The story is interesting, if a bit heavy on survival techniques and procedures and thin on character development. it also ends on a bit of a cliff hanger. Tom Lemon"s narration is not excruciating but I'd prefer that he not deliver every line as if he was reading a peppy children's story. "The cave bear was enormous! Yippee!”

Based on many Amazon reviews this seemed to be a book full of survival tips. Maybe the ultimate Boy Scout manual. Well it is, but that isn't half what makes it great.
There is much ore excitement than I expected. Evil and danger are everywhere. Bad guys are both two and four legged. Even a little romance.
The time travel premise really comes Delete repeated word fairly credible here. As credible as in any such book.
Didn't expect a survival book to turn into a can't put it down thriller.
The narrator did a good job keeping me in the story during some of the longer detailed portions. Laid back and easy to listen too. Like an old friend telling the tale. Perfect choice.

Darma in the Ice Age

The opening introduces the concept of time travel through at least three distinct period of Earth's History. Past, present, and future. It had my interest right there.
While billed as a kind of Boy Scout Handbook book for the stone age it is the plot and character interaction along with all the exciting action as man against man and man against animal are described in very realistic detail that really draws you in and makes you want to keep reading faster and faster.
The narrator was perfect. I always knew who was speaking. He is really engaging as a story teller and crystal clear.
I will be waiting to listen to the next in the series.

Good scifi with practical survival information. Few fiction books with survival themes have as much practical thoughts about how to survive while still having a strong story.
