All Joran wanted was a quiet life of research and study in his alchemy lab.
It didn’t seem like so much to ask.
But when an emergency at one of his family’s trading posts crops up, his father insists that Joran is the only one that can straighten it out.
The next day finds Joran packed and on the road to the empire’s southernmost province.
Little does Joran know that a simple business trip will turn into the most dangerous journey of his life.
An Unwelcome Journey is the first audiobook in a exciting new epic fantasy adventure.

First box: Women rule.Women are the best fighters and leaders ... blah blah blah. So tired of these books portraying women as always the great fighter now. AND I'M A WOMAN!
Second box: Lesbianism
Woman is love with other women until she meets her male, "soul mate". writing was very basic. literally turned from a wounded woman to another one and says " You're my soulmate. " no leading up to.
Third box: The One God is sub par.
I'm sure there are more but I returned after 1 hour of listening.
Just very blunt writing. No real depth.

It's not a particularly good story either. The author goes out of their way to create a truly novel relationship between the 3 main characters, and then completely avoids doing anything interesting with it. Instead, those characters are simply dropped in a series of serial adventures that are all resolved without any tension or difficulty, leading to... oh wait that's in the next book.
Definitely not worth the credit. If you are still tempted wait for the omnibus edition.
World built; characters identified; then it ends.
