About this listen

I, Amelia Quinn, am dating again.

I must be out of practice though because I sat down at the wrong man’s table…and kissed him. And now I’m wrapped up in the middle of an FBI case… DREAM COME TRUE!

Except the super sexy agent doesn’t want my help solving this case.

I, Caleb Harris, am a stupid, stupid man. Nothing says rookie agent like kissing a civilian just to get rid of her.

But somehow that didn’t even work because she keeps showing up wherever our suspect is. And now, I’m not so sure she’s innocent in all this. Especially when someone ends up dead.

Date With Danger is a closed door, light hearted, romantic comedy with mystery and suspense.

Date With Danger

Narrator: Amanda Friday & Andy Harrington

My Reading Speed: 1x

Have I Read The Book Before Listening to the Audio? Yes

Overall Audio Impression:

It took me a little bit to get used to the narrators, but overall I liked them both! I especially liked that the girl did all the girl character(s) dialogue & the guy did all the guy character(s) dialogue no matter who’s point of view the chapter was from!

I loved this book so much when I first read it that I listened to it with the Alexa accessibility feature (so it’d ‘read’ it to me) to go to sleep that night. It wasn’t the best, but did the job. I was so thrilled when I saw it got it’s own audiobook! This audiobook was obviously way better than & still gave me a chance to relive my favorite scenes in this book! It was so much fun to listen to it and enjoy the romcom/mystery mix story once again!

Favorite Scenes:

Psych mentions

Amelia testing Caleb’s resolve

their first meeting

hilarious excitement over being in an investigation

Book Review:

Reader’s Notes:

– this is connected to Jenessa’s Never Say Never series, but you don’t have to read the series to enjoy this book

– this is told from Amelia & Caleb’s points of view

– it is mentioned that character’s parent(s) passed away (past events) & that a parent abandoned them

– there is a dead body with enough details to understand how it looks, but it is not gorey & the description is not gone back to in detail

Review:

This is my first story by Jenessa Fayeth (though I’ve managed to order some of her books before this point – she came highly recommended by someone(s) I trust!) and I am really excited to get to more of her books! After seeing all the teasers Jenessa was posting to her Instagram & the fact that there would be Psych (TV show) references, I preordered this book about a month or two prior to release because I was that excited about it! And when I finally got to read it, I was just as excited! It was so much fun and I loved how bubbly Amelia was about almost everything she came across. I loved that she was determined to not only make her happily ever after happen when she met her guy, but also to be involved in the investigation she managed to get herself mixed-up in. I loved that Caleb clearly liked Amelia (even though she seemed to have no self preservation in her body) but wanted to let her have the chance to find someone who he thought could actually dedicate the right amount of time to her in a relationship. He knew her worth, but needed a bit of time to see that he had that same worth & the desire to pursue her no matter the circumstances. I also really loved Cruz and the other connecting side characters in this book and their reactions to Amelia & Caleb’s developing relationship! I know that the couples in this book have their own books, but I’m curious if Cruz will get her own story. Especially since there were mentions of who she had her eye on!

Summary:

Amelia started dating again after her disastrous last boyfriend proved to be less than faithful. But when she goes to meet her date from the dating app in person, Amelia finds herself at the wrong table with the wrong guy. Which she only discovers after they’ve kissed & he leaves her behind. But things get much more exciting when Amelia sees the wrong guy again & manages to gets herself in the middle of what he’s doing. Turns out, Caleb is an FBI agent and was investigating both times Amelia has come across him. She’s thrilled to be living out her tv show dreams of helping out with an investigation, it doesn’t matter that Caleb says he doesn’t want anymore of her help.

Caleb can’t believe he made such a disastrous mistake as kissing a woman to get her out of the way in the middle of an investigation. Now it seems like Amelia is everywhere he turns, both literally and figuratively. She’s constantly on his mind after that kiss & Amelia fancies herself a helpful investigator after he got her to help due to her connection to the suspect. Caleb told her that she can’t help beyond what she was asked to do. Not that it seems to stop her. But things get out of hand when Amelia ends up deeper in the investigation than either of them could have thought. And all it took was a dead body…
