Publisher's summary

The Dragumon have been defeated but the planet Sendek will never be the same. In order to save their world, Talia and Landry Sutton had to wake the forgotten magic on Sendek. But instead of restoring peace, it creates chaos on the city streets, with those unable to work magic turning against those who can.

When Talia and Landry travel to the planet Orek to discover how it combines magic and science, they find a new, anti-magical government. The Controllers have all the tech, weapons, and natural resources. On Orek, the magical outcasts beg Talia and Landry to help them rise up against their oppressors.

The two must decide whether to help save Orek or return home and save their own planet. Talia and Landry are torn apart by the conflicting missions. Talia knows what Landry wants, but if she gives in, she could lose what she loves the most.

It was ok

I had a hard time getting through this second story. The narrator was adequate. I liked the cadence of the first narrator better. The story was ok but I didn’t find it as engaging as the first.

Second Installment in the Series

This is the second installment in The Magic Wakes Series. Talia and Landry's story continues where the first book left off. The storyline is filled with intrigue, mystery, twists and turns, suspense, and ends on a cliffhanger. Joseph Prince did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to more in the series. #StoryOrigin

Short Sequel

Talia and Landry travel to the planet Orek, which they believe is deserted, to find the answers to quell the violence and chaos occurring on Sendek. Instead they find a dysfunction government at odds with rebels who are just trying to survive. They team up with the rebels with some success. However, this 2nd book ends with a cliff-hangar, and there wasn't much point to the story line in the first place.

Dragons

Book 2 in the series, picks up where the first left off. The tale of Talia and Landry continue. There are magic, dragons, and intrigue. Story line was interesting. Characters are well developed, and continue to evolve int this story. Narration was good.

Research Mission Gone Wrong

Parents- PG13- geared for YA high school and up
Language- I don't remember any bad language
Violence- PG13- normal to genre
Sexual Content- PG13- Lust, insinuations of bedroom scenes and guys with malicious intent but nothing very descriptive

Picks up where book one left off. They're now dealing with magic on the planet and Talia and Landan decide to go off planet to do some research on how to integrate technology and magic to keep peace with their people. Their research mission becomes much more thrilling once landed on their destination planet and get themselves captured. Between walking into a fight they hadn't planned on and Talia's scary visions it is another fun and hard to put down installment.... And now begins the wait for book 3!!!

Narrator- 2.5 ⭐ The narrator for the first book was much better. This one doesn't have the best differentiation or acting skills and the speed is off but better at 1.25x speed.

The Magic Wakes series book 2 is great!

Charity Bradford writes another engaging romance with fantasy and sci-fi elements with book 2 of the Magic Wakes series. I don't typically read romances but the premise seemed interesting and I'm glad I did. The wide range of characters are well developed, the scenarios are interesting, and the overall world is an interesting mix of fantasy and sci-fi. Book 2 continues to build upon the prior book and keeps getting better and better. I look forward to reading book 3! Audio Version: Although a different narrator than book 1, Joseph Prince does a great job narrating this novel. It took a little while to get used to the difference but it works.

Fascinating Sci-Fi Fantasy

I enjoyed book 2 in "The Magic Wakes" series. It started off a little slow, but soon picked up impetus. I liked the main characters. I liked that there were complications between Talia and Landry as their relationship progressed. I was entertained by the unexpected circumstances and topsy-turvy reality that they go through as they search for answers to help their planet. Joseph Prince's narration was fine, but I preferred the narrator from book one. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
