Publisher's summary
The legendary MacCallister clan brought 500 years of Highlander tradition, honor, and fighting courage to the American frontier. In an astounding new novel from the national best-selling Johnstones, Duff MacCallister rides into the Colorado mountains with a young girl at his side — and a gang of stone-cold killers eagerly waiting for them....
When Duff MacCallister sees smoke rising from his neighbor’s ranch, he knows that something is very wrong. But he isn’t prepared for what he finds: smoldering buildings, a rancher and his wife brutally slaughtered, and a 14-year-old survivor who could not save her parents. Now, Duff is going after the killers — and his only companion is the headstrong girl who refuses to be left behind.
Duff and his new companion head into the towering Gore Range. Up ahead are two convicted murderers who were about to be hung in Cheyenne, and the killers who broke them lose. Duff doesn’t have a plan — or a prayer. But the girl will be more help than he can know, and when the day of reckoning comes, bullets and blood will prove who is the bravest and fiercest fighter of all....
Performed by Mort Shelby, Steven Carpenter, Bradley Smith, Kimberly Gilbert, Colleen Delany, Christopher Graybill, Michael John Casey, Thomas Keegan, Tim Getman, Christopher Scheeren, Michael Glenn, Ken Jackson, Chris Genebach, Sasha Olinick, Terence Aselford, Patrick Bussink, Todd Scofield, Lise Bruneau, Bruce Alan Rauscher, Eric Messner, Ren Kasey, Tim Carlin, Scott McCormick, Cameron McNary, David Jourdan, Christopher Walker, Bob Payne, Jonathan Feuer, Andy Brownstein, Robbie Gay, Chris Davenport, Jeff Allin, Julie-Ann Elliott, Dylan Lynch, Tim Pabon, Rose Elizabeth Supan, Richard Rohan, Nanette Savard.

Story
It’s 1852. The wounds of the Mexican War are healing. Regis Royle, co-owner of a steamship fleet, has made it out alive, relatively unscarred and with enough profit and foolhardy ambition to envision a new life in south Texas. With the help of his crack-shot kid brother Shepley, his glad-handing riverboat partner Cormac Delany, and his old friend, raw-edged former Texas Ranger Jarvis “Bone” McGraw, Regis is laying claim to the prime jewel in a magnificent rolling prairie: the Santa Calina range teeming with wild mustangs, cattle, and eighteen-thousand acres of lush promise.

Holt’s latest job is in Devil’s Gulch in Colorado Territory. But wiping out bands of bank robbers is just the beginning. More disorder is brewing, and the skittish mayor has handpicked Holt as the new sheriff. Holt is what the town needs: a mercenary with a badge, a loaded Remington, and a deadeye-aim for trouble. Devil’s Gulch has the vigilance committee. The man behind it—Joe Mullen, the largest rancher and mine owner in the valley—isn’t keen on an outsider like Holt muscling in on a good thing. Mullen already has his hand in all the crime in Devil’s Gulch.

Story
The great state of Texas is a land of opportunity. For outlaws. And horse thieves. And cattle rustlers. Not to mention bank robbers, train robbers, and anything-that-ain’t-nailed-down robbers. The state’s governor, Richard B. Hubbard, is at the end of his rope. He wants to clean up Texas once and for all—and he’s desperate enough to try something crazy: hire a man who can do what the Texas Rangers can’t. A man not tied down by a wife or children. Or rules. Who’s not afraid to go outside the law.

A deeply divided nation. Vicious politics. A shamelessly partisan media. A president loathed by half the populace. Smuggling and gang warfare along the Mexican border. Armed citizens willing to stand their ground and take law into their own hands.... That was America in 1881. All those forces came to bear on the afternoon of October 26, when Doc Holliday and the Earp brothers faced off against the Clantons and the McLaurys in Tombstone, Arizona. It should have been a simple misdemeanor arrest.

Day of Reckoning
These books about Duff are some of my favorites. I like the books with one narrator but these books like this one that has several narrators are growing on me. I'm liking them more and more. In this one Duff helps a young girl get revenge for a group of outlaws who killed her family. Duff and Megan help her track them down and get revenge. I highly recommend this book and series. Both unabridged and Abridged. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

the storyline was very good
The accents of the Scottish and Chinese languages was horrible. I have listened to many of your books and rate the audio portion of this as the worst yet and I'm going to request a refund.
