About this listen

Life is what happens when you're making other plans. Boy did it! Lauren graduated top of her class, ready for her career in genetic research. But when she was presented with the opportunity to study the most amazing thing she'd ever seen, a virus that completely rewrites human DNA, altering someone to become a Vampire, she couldn't refuse. When she realized that the research society were actually the villains, that the Vampires were not evil, or undead, she helps them destroy the lab where she worked. Now, she's enemy number one, living a life in hiding... if they find her, they'll kill her. The last thing she needs is any contact at all with that forbidden world. And yet, as careful as she is to stay off of everyone's radar, she's drawn back into the world of blood and sex she'd never really been a part of anyway. A vampire crash-lands at her feet late one night downtown Chicago, drunk, sexy, and too compelling. No, no way! She can't let him in.

Bryn's been drinking and partying nonstop for 300 years, a life that always seemed satisfying to an old vampire who had no interest in any serious pursuits. It was enough to have a good time, sleep, and do it all over again the next night. A bad decision to "borrow" a motorcycle after too many bourbons in Chicago brings a woman into his life that he wanted, badly, but she had no interest at all...she knew his Vampire world and walked away from him.

A chance meeting that leads a drunken Vampire, and a lost woman through danger, the rain forest, and sex like neither one of them have ever known. Yes, life does happen while we're making other plans!

FANTASTIC!!!

C. L. Quinn has yet to disappoint me! She truly is a master at making the Vampire world her own!! Lauren thought she was helping rid the world of something horrible, but she found out she was working for what's horrible! Her life is turned upside down!! I really like Lauren's no nonsense, I am woman attitude!! Pyper Down brings such emotion to the character's!! She truly draws you into the story!!! I can't wait on the next book!!!

A Wonderful Story!

Days of Redemption was a superb story. I love how author C.L. Quinn brings back characters from other books in the series. I enjoy that we don't forget about the stories that came before the newer ones. I always say she out does herself with every story I listen to by her, but she really does. She never disappoints, her writing is perfect, and her story is pure genius. This book has it all, its fun, mysterious, danger the majority of the time, and is loaded with some scrumptious sex scenes. I'm sorry that I won't go into detail but I hate leaving spoilers. All I can tell everyone is that this is a wonderfully written series. I know some might be tired of vampire stories but I must tell you that this series will have you loving vampires again. I highly recommend this series.

Narrator, Pyper Down has done another amazing job and her performance of this audiobook is fantastic. Pyper kept me immersed from start to finish. She does a great job at keeping me engrossed in each audiobook of The Firsts that I've heard her narrate. When changing her accents and voices of each character she blows me away. I love listening to her voice. I can't say anything bad about her narration and I think it's flawless. I don't have any trouble identifying the characters throughout the story. She's another fantastic author that breathes life into a story. I don't lie when I mention that she breathes life into this story and she truly does, no lie. I really recommend that you listen to this story but you have to listen to the first book Forbidden Days (The Firsts, #1) before reading this series.

The best book yet!

This is by far the best book in this series so far. I absolutely fell in love with Bryn. Bryn & Lauren together are so much fun! I want a Bryn of my own!!!
Here we are in book 6 of this series " The Firsts". In book 6, we are back with Bryn (the Irish rogue vampire) and Lauren (the scientist from the lab). If we think back Lauren is the one who burned down the lab & freed all the supernaturals that were being tested like lab rats.
Days of Redemption is fun, witty, sexy as all hell & loaded with excitement & danger! I love how the Author has all the characters that we met & loved in the past, keep meeting up to help each other out! I enjoy reading a series & I am already familiar with some of the characters!
Lauren is hiding and has changed her last name and looks She now has a shop in Chicago. Walking home one night, a drunk crashes a motorcycle in front of her. She goes to help & recognizes Bryn, the drunken vampire from back at the lab. He doesn't recognize her while drunk, but later he does. It only gets hotter from here!
Bryn & Lauren start having a tryst. It's just sex though. Lauren knows Bryn will never settle down for one woman. Now you have to read the book to see what else happens. I had laughed many times in this book.
The Author, C L Quinn really out did herself writing this book. This book is total genius! The narrator, Pyper Down rocked the narration! The accents were fabulous. The excitement was more than incredible. When mixing this author and narrator the book explodes! Kudos to both ladies, you are both spot on in this book! Thank you so much! I enjoyed this book way too much!

SHE DID IT AGAIN…… A NON-STOP LISTEN

Driving his motorbike while drunk was a really bad idea for loveable bad boy Bryn because it landed him at the feet of Lauren, a human woman hiding from the revenge of an evil Mastermind who kidnaps and experiments on non-humans. Because once he meets her Bryn feels responsible for her and gets caught in a web of intrigue and destruction to protect her….. but the biggest danger for him is falling in love.

This has most of the characters/Firsts from the other books plus more in this exciting story that contains all the usual elements C L Quinn likes to put in her books… thrilling action, nail-biting suspense, hot sex, humor, twists, danger and more because the vamps were all wrong when they underestimated just what a mad human could do.

Worth a credit? Great plot and ongoing storyline, great characters, a great author and a great narrator made this a great PNR listen and very creditworthy.

AWE LAUREN AND BRYN NEW VAMPY LOVE!!!

What made the experience of listening to Days of Redemption the most enjoyable?

It was just good...I love this series!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lauren...even though her self doubt drove me crazy...Lauren is very honorable though...and strong...she is a good person!

What does Pyper Down bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Pyper once again is queen of the accents...I like her style very much..she has a certain cadence that takes a bit to get used to, but I couldn't imagine these stories being told by anyone else now!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Lauren and Bryn finally decide they were going to be together..they went back and forth so much...and I kept telling myself, if they didn't end up together, I was going to be so mad!!

Any additional comments?

After 6 books into this universe, I see many things happening...and it fascinates me that these men and women can live so many lifetimes...and love so much...I am so glad Bryn and Lauren made it work...Bryn is a funny guy...a vampire alcoholic...who would of known? I am worried about Tamsen...she is actually one of my most fave characters..and I am excited to listen to her story next!!!!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL OF THIS SERIES!!!!

Done better elsewhere

I had high hopes for this book. I had 2 other books by this author in my wish list, but they have since been deleted. This story reminded me too much of other paranormal romance stories that were done better. Some of the critical things happening in the story were unexplained but to be accepted, nonetheless. I was unable to without some explanation, some connection. These things were like astounding abilities or astounding connections. I get some of the stuff might be explained by having listened to other stories in this series. But I don’t think the aspects that left me questioning are of those sorts.
And the writing was just juvenile at times or overly simplistic, especially some of the metaphors. That's what detracted from the story the most to me. Those parts resulted in large, uncontrollable eye rolls. And the sex scenes lacked detail that was necessary to believe the hotness, the extremeness of the event. Instead they came across as very ho-hum and with me disbelieving the significant connection that's supposed to exist—almost from the first time they met—between Bryn and Lauren.

And, as an aside, it was disturbing to read about Kalia (vampire imprisoned) choosing to make Lamont (evil dude imprisoning vampires) see her skin as “milky white” and with “satiny blonde” hair instead of her natural color described as “a rich chocolate color” and dark hair. Why didn't the author just choose to have a blonde vampire with large breasts mistreated and used by Lamont, per his request?

Finally, the author choosing to have Lauren be a thin, almost waif-like, tall (5’10”) geeky female scientist (geneticist) who gains weight (30 lbs) and becomes a voluptuous bombshell unaware of and just becoming to understand her new sex appeal sends a troubling message to me. The author not having Lauren find beauty in herself before having men pay attention to her was troubling.

I actually fell asleep listening to the story, woke up and didn't need (or want) to rewind the story to continue following it. That's a very simple & predictable story if nothing important is missed after missing more than an hour of a story.

The narration carried the story, otherwise I might've given up. But I think the Irish lilt was a hard for her to maintain.

Overall review of series

What did you like best about Days of Redemption? What did you like least?

I love all the story lines. I liked the introduction of the Cat lady. I didn't like Lauren very much in this one. I guess it's a combination of all before and then this one was just too much "bad drama" the multiple attractions. I'm not too happy about the choice of bad guys in this one either. I can say I liked it enough to finish it but not in a rush to get the next one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cherish in Endless Days.

What does Pyper Down bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I liked her as she is

Do you think Days of Redemption needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, Cat lady

Any additional comments?

I'm one of those who start a series and don't stop till I've listened to every book! The first 2 were good. Then it became weird.. In Darkened days I don't like the baby daddy is not the man she is mated with. I'm a sucker for the "one and only" stuff but to have babies with one and love another is just weird for these kind of stories. I noticed it in this book too. The Cat lady and Lauren felt sparks then at the end she wanted the doctor and well I just didn't like that.

OMG ! HOW CAN ONE EVEN GET THROUGH

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A completely different narrator. I'm not sure how to get past the narration to listen to the story. I love CL Quinn's The Firsts books, but damn this narration was an abomination.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Pyper Down?

At this point, anyone. It really is a travesty, especially with technology the way it is today not to be able to find a good narrator for this book. Ive listened to Pyper Down before, she's not great, not even close but I've able to get through these books fairly well - this one was awful.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not sure, couldn't listen to it.

Any additional comments?

It is too bad that a good book/series was absolutely ruined by the narration. Also, there are certain listeners whose opinions and reviews I depend on to guide me to good books, and one of the reviewers for this one led me astray….too bad.
