Publisher's summary

With the world as he knew it in ashes, one man must protect those who can’t protect themselves.

In the time before the storm, Jim Parker committed his life to helping others. As a police officer, he placed himself in harm’s way for the greater good. But now that the world’s been turned upside down by a deadly EMP strike, it’s all he can do to survive. With his friends Finn and Ava by his side, Parker must defy the power-hungry Council and search for his long-lost daughter, Sara.

Sara gave up on being saved a long time ago. Abducted as a child and raised by the Church of Humanity on a compound called the Vineyard, she knows she can only rely on herself. With the Council behind her, she’s been working from the inside to bring down the corrupt Church and its sociopathic leader, Theo Truesdale.

When her father and his friends arrive, Sara knows she just might be able to complete her mission - but a horrifying discovery Parker makes along the way shows just how truly ruthless the Council can be. Now, Parker will have to decide between taking down the organization that kidnapped his daughter, or saving innocent lives - with nothing less than his humanity hanging in the balance.

EMP with a Twist

Grace Hamilton and Jack Colrain take what could have been a tired genre and added a new dimension! The characters backstories are very interesting and not typical of the genre. The intrigue is unique and draws the listener in. The story moves quickly with a lot of action. Thriller audiences will enjoy!

Very good read. Great characters.

I read Volume 2 without reading Volume 1 but I was still able to follow along with the storylines and characters. The author does a great job of developing believable characters and compelling details that make you want to keep reading.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Different and a little weird

EMP goes off and everything dies, normal pepper topic. Only this one has a crazy cult, crazy ex wife, kidnapped daughter and lots of shooting, killing, and yes rape scene. Most post apocalyptic novels do. Men became nasty animals and women become prey. Then you have the government gone bad and killing citizens for perceived infractions. This book has lots of shooting, killing, maiming, and just most everything people who read this type of genre are looking for. Yes, it's dark and violent but most post apocalyptic books are. We aren't interested in flowers and singing love and get along songs. The narrator did a great job with this book bringing the characters alive and helping you visualize the travels and action going on. Post Apocalyptic lovers... this is our book and a great read. I didn't give 5 stars only because there were a few times i was kinda like uhhhh?? But otherwise good book.

Dark... Violent ...

OK. look if you are looking for hearts and flowers here,... well lets just say that you took a wrong turn. This work has non stop action and violence in the extreme, people at their very worst. It was very hard to like ANY of these characters but I certainly could empathize and identify with them. If this is an accurate representation of post EMP life, might I suggest just opening a bottle of wine (and a vein) now.

Great book

I thought the story of a mans journey to recue his daughter and all the roadblocks in his way was done very well. The narrator did a great job of conveying the emotions and frustrations along the way. I was given a free copy of this audio in return for an unbiased review.

Unbelievable courage and persistance!

Parker’s desire to rescue his daughter Sara seems like a lost cause. His tight group of survivors including Ava and Finn runs into trouble at every turn. They’ve grown together as only a life and death desire to survive can cement a team together. Between the Council and the Church of Humanity, they find themselves between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Parker is constantly forced to rescue other survivors rather than head straight for his daughter. The story is full of twists and turns, encountering one firefight after another. Eventually uniting with Sara, it reveals secrets that at once answers many questions and also shocks Parker to his core. Parker once again finds himself at a crossroad; who to believe, who to trust, who to kill. The terror and violence that was to come is unbelievable. Would any of them survive? Four.point.five. Good mid book

This is the second book I’ve read/listened to by these authors together. I’ve listened to eight books by Grace Hamilton alone. I find her stories entertaining, but they are harsh with loads of action involving violence and we definitely see the low side of humanity. Pretty typical post-apocalyptic stories.
The story starts after Parker’s freed Ava from the Church of Humanity. Now he, Ava and Finn resume trying to find Sara. Sara is at the Vineyard but manages to escape. When they finally find each other, Parker’s is surprised by the arrival of some others. We learn more about the organizations trying to run society. The book ends with a cliffhanger lead into the next book.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Richard Brewer ). He does well narrating this book and does not overemphasize. His character voices are distinct and female voices fairly natural. Listening to him narrate is more like watching the movie in my head.

There are no explicit sex scenes, there is violence and lots of swearing.

Dead End

For as much as I liked book 1,I don't care for book 2.I find it crude and violent more than needed.Maybe it's the times. Richard Brewer was a good enough narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Too Rude and Crude for Me

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Dead End: 911, Volume 2 by Grace Hamilton, Jack Colrain and narrated by Richard Brewer. This is my first 1-star story review. I didn’t read (or listen) book 2. I don’t think that would have made any difference. It started out acceptably, but quickly became crass, crude and a bit too real in showing the dark and ugly side of humanity. I know it is out there, but I don’t want to read it or listen to it when I am trying to be entertained. I stopped before I got ½ way through the story. Narration was okay. Reader beware.
