Heart-pounding, Pulse-rising, zombie action!

Ever wonder what would happen if Baltimore was overrun by a zombie horde? K. Michael Gibson's version is intense and captivating. His characters are relatable with just the right touch of sarcasm to keep you wanting more. I plan to add the written version to my library since I found the reader's voice a little bit nasally to for my taste and I would prefer to completely immerse myself into such an entertaining story. The voice wasn't so awful that I couldn't enjoy the story, I just think I prefer reading to listening.

Please get a new narrator.

Would you try another book from K. Michael Gibson and/or Bob Dunsworth?

The story itself was actually pretty good, it had comedy, action, and a little drama but this narrator completely ruined it for me. He would constantly pronounce words wrong and at first, it wasn't so bad but after a few hours into it; I just couldn't stand it anymore. They weren't even complex words either like Daemonolatreia or anything. It would be words such as wafted (he says waf-ted, not wahf-ted.) Also every time the characters think in their head the narrator would like cup his hands around his mouth to try and give it an echo effect which just made it annoying since he does it every 15 minutes or so. If you have the patients of a Saint, then go for it. This is actually a pretty good story but the narrator was just annoying.

How could the performance have been better?

Get a new narrator.

keeps you interested

It's really good; It's a fast pace story, that's has very little down time. Still not sure how the terrorist released the bio weapon but hopefully that's will be in book 2. Would like to find book two to see what happened.

One hell of a ride

I loved this book almost from the starts your heart is racing. The characters are rich full of life you start to care about them and find yourself cheering the heros.

It's well worth every penny the only thing you won't like is how fast you go through it. It'll leave you wanting more.

Gripping

Would you consider the audio edition of Dead Pulse Rising to be better than the print version?

I would not. Not because I didn't think this particular one was bad, but because I am more of a reader than a listener. However, if one preferred listening, rather than reading, I think this is a good choice! ;)

What other book might you compare Dead Pulse Rising to and why?

I have no other comparison. It's the first "zombie" book I've ever read/heard. LOVED every word!

Have you listened to any of Bob Dunsworth’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I have not.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Once the story took off, yes. It's hard to stop listening!

Any additional comments?

The overall story was awesome! For a first "zombie" read, I am hooked!

Good story and characters

Overall I enjoyed the story. The character were likable and kept me interested in what was going to happen to them next.

I wish the author would have done some more research about the weapons he chose to write about. He kept referring to 45 millimeter pistols. 45 mm is the size of an anti-tank weapon or the anti-aircraft weapons mounted on battleships. Also, glocks don't have wood grips. And are typically not silver unless you custom coat them.

The narrator did and good job, but I did find it irritating how he modified his voice with some kind of echo-like effect when he narrated what the characters' were thinking. It was unnecessary and distracting.

It's an entertaining book overall and I'd recommend it.
