What did you love best about Some Like it Wicked?

I liked the character growth of Simon. He came around first and I sometimes wondered how Catorina survived as long as she did being innocent. She was way too gullible for me. Sh was also too hard headed to see what she needed when she was looking at it. Loved the ballroom scene where Simon tried to make her see what she meant to him. Men in kilts.......great. I also love Catorina's cat. Robert the Bruce was a story all to himself.

What other book might you compare Some Like it Wicked to and why?

I am sure there are some I could compare this to but at this time I can not bring a title to mind.

Did Charlotte Parry do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Fairly good. Sometimes a little to childish sounding. I was pretty comfortable with the sound of her voice for most of the characters. A little throatier is better for men but we work with what we got. Would listen to more by her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes as I liked the characters and wanted the happy ending I was looking for. I really liked Simon as a hero. He was neither too dark or too blind to see things as he should. The lady however might have been a little stronger in some areas. Overall, they developed well.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this book and would listen to it again. I have revisited some parts to refresh my memory of certain things as I was telling my niece what a good book I thought it was. I let her borrow my MP3 player it is loaded on so she can listen too.

I think this is a book you will either love or hate; I am firmly ensconced in the LOVE camp. I read romance books for an escape. I suspend reality and let myself believe in the fairytale and that true love will heal all wounds and triumph in the end. The plot is one that has been done repeatedly, and a little thin, you can see what’s coming from a mile away, but that was ok with me for this book, because the dialogue between the protagonists is sparkling, witty and fun. The repartee makes up for anything the plot may be lacking, in my opinion. I just sat back and enjoyed the ride with Simon and Catriona. Simon is the typical hero, tortured from emotional wounds inflicted by his parents; he’s turned to a life of meaningless debauchery and sexual, but not emotional fulfillment. Cartonia is a doe-eye, tenderhearted optimist who forgives a little too easily anyone who hurts her. There is one particularly corny scene in a ballroom, that had me rolling my eyes, but I was so in love with Simon and Catriona by then, I would have forgiven a hundred corny scenes. This book made me happy, and that is why I read romance!

Great dialogue

I loveTeresa Medeiros as an author, and have read every one of her books. I enjoyed this one as much as any of the others, and can't wait for more--both in print and audio.

That said, I really don't care for this narrator. She did a decent job with Catriona (except for the fact that she pretty much sounded like a 12-year-old girl throughout the story,) and the accents were OK, but her voice is just too high-pitched to successfully pull off the male characters' voices. Here's hoping that they'll consider getting someone else when they put another Teresa Medeiros book on audio.

Glad to see a favorite author FINALLY in audio...

I loved the story and the characters. The reader was good except her voice for the hero made him sound less than ideal.

Teresa Medeiros is always a hit!

What did you like best about Some Like it Wicked? What did you like least?

I couldn't listen to the book. The narrator was horrid. If you want to listen to someone with a voice like a whining 11-year-old, this is the book for you. The story may have been great--I generally find Teresa Medeiros writes really fun, intelligent romance stories...with great dialogue...reminiscent of a Nick and Nora from the old Thin Man series. Unfortunately, try as I might, I could only get through about ten minutes of narration for Some Like It Wicked.

What was most disappointing about Teresa Medeiros’s story?

The narration was unbearably high-pitched and whining.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Charlotte Parry?

Barbara Rosenblat

Any additional comments?

Please engage a different narrator.

This story was a little on the slow side. It seemed to take forever for anything to happen. I did enjoy it in the long run, but probably will never listen to it again.

Good not great.
