About this listen

Cold case detective and newlywed, Ronan O’Mara, is sitting on top of the world. When he returns to work after his honeymoon, he finds more waiting for him than a stack of dusty cold-case files. Hidden in the mail on Ronan’s desk is a letter from Tank Hutchins, aka The Riverside Ripper. Convicted of murdering a woman three years ago, Tank claims he is innocent and asks Ronan and Tennyson for their help in proving who really committed the crime: his twin brother, Tim.

Psychic Tennyson Grimm is reluctant to meet with the convicted murderer who’s placed his faith in Ten’s gift. When Tennyson realizes Tank is innocent of the crime for which he’s serving 25 to life, he knows that he and Ronan have to do whatever it takes to set things right.

Together with Tank’s private investigator, the mysterious Jude Byrne, Ronan and Tennyson retrace the steps of the original investigation hoping to find the one piece of evidence that will get Tank’s conviction overturned and bring the real killer to light.

When new evidence leads them to believe there’s a larger conspiracy at play, will Tennyson and Ronan be able to find the killer before he returns to complete his diabolical plan?

Great story line and developing relationships

Yet another fantastic book in this series from Pandora Pine. It has quickly become a favourite of mine and the plot involved in this is just another reason why with such a great twist added! Tennyson and Ronan are, as ever, two of my favourite people and adapting to life as a married couple. Considering the short time they've actually been together I think they do amazingly well!. We of course hear from all of the Cold Case family, even Tennyson's mother is included.
The plot to this book is of a convicted man proclaiming innocence but it turns out he is an identical twin and the main piece of evidence against him is blood DNA found at the crime scene. It makes for a real thinker, especially as it's a case that's closed in the eyes of the law. We do get introduced to PI Jude Bryne, a man who quickly becomes much loved in this series by characters and readers alike. He's secretive, surly and intriguing.
Michael Pauley, yet again, gives us a fantastic audio experience with Dead Ringer and the vast amount of characters that are included as well as the roller coaster of emotions that are experienced throughout the story by many of the men involved.
I cannot recommend the story, series and narration enough. Each and every book is an experience and Michael just takes it to a new level of enjoyment, truly bringing the book to life.

A Great Continuation Of A Series

This is the sixth book in The Cold Case Psychic Series. An intriguing book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. The characters were developed and thought out. Detective Ronan O’Mara and Psychic Tennyson Grimm are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, twins, police, spirits, twists, friends and family, holidays and so much more in this book. The narration was good there were different voices for the characters and it wasn’t monotone.

Here is a quote from the book, “One vote for grinch-popping, Hmm, I wonder who wrote that, Kaye?” … “Splat-flopping.” Ronan recognized the writing as Carson’s. … Trench-dropping.” … “Spatchcocking. Atta boy, Greeley! … “Cut out my backbone and flatten me out, accompanied by an illustration of a turkey holding its wings over its eyes.” … “Flat-bopping.” … “Fart-stopping.” … “Art-whopping!” … “Splash-shopping.” … ”And lastly, the Bobby Flay way, because one of us can’t spell…”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can highly recommend as a great listen/read. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next book. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Wonderful series

I am still in love with this dynamic duo. I adore this series, the cast of characters, the cases, and of course the future little miss! We now have a new character, Jude, who is definitely intriguing and I look forward to seeing more of him. I really enjoy the banter between the characters, the family aspect and most of all how Ronan has changed into the most romantic man ever. He’s just a goner for Ten and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The case was interesting as usual, and I really love how this world is adding new characters with each and every book.
So what can I say about Michael Pauley? Hmmm, only that no one else can ever narrate this series! How he chose to portray Ronan and Ten is just absolutely pure gold. I could wait a year and come back to listen and still know who each character is, he has such great distinction between them all. And I adore Ten’s little snorts. This isn’t narration, this is voice acting in all it’s glory. All in all, I absolutely recommend this book and series. It needs to be read or listened to in order. It’s definitely worth the investment. This is a series that I will listen to over and over again.

The Gang Is Back!!

This series is incredible and having it brought to life by such a magnificent narrator is beyond SPECTACULAR!! All the feelings, emotions, and drama are perfectly portrayed in such a way that you feel like you're in the story. This is installment is wonderful. Ronan, Ten, and the gang are all back in a new mystery that starts when an inmate contacts Ronan claiming he's innocent and wants Ronan and Ten's help. It's an interesting case that I liked seeing unfold with several twists and lots of drama. My favorite is watching the whole gang together and their dynamic. They have created such a wonderful and supportive family and this story adds new members such as Jude and another new member comes in at the end of the story but I don't want to give that one away. I'm very interested in seeing more of Jude and what he's really all about. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Very nice addition to the series

I really like Michael Pauley’s narration of the Cold Case Files. He brings each person to life. Imbuing each character with a recognizable voice.

Ten and Ronan haven’t even settled into their newly married life when Ronan receives a letter from a convicted killer, saying he’s innocent and wanting Ten’s help to prove it. Ten is reluctant but once Ronan tells him he thinks the man is innocent Ten is on board.

The psychic story wasn’t as strong as the others in the series. The case was in the background but never felt as compelling. What came through the strongest for me was the total sense of family encompassing the whole book. The introduction of Jude was wonderful. Him and Ronan’s interactions were priceless. I can see them becoming the best frenemies ever.

Very nice addition to the series.

A great listen!

It all starts with a letter. A letter sent to Ronan from a man currently residing in a maximum security prison. He has been tried and convicted of a murder of a young woman a few years back. A murder he claims he did not commit. Ronan first dismisses the letter – after all doesn’t everyone proclaim they’re innocent? But he can’t get the letter out of his mind, and decides to go out to the prison to meet the man, Tank. Whilst talking to the man Ronan starts to believe his innocence, but in order for Tank to be innocent, the murder must have been committed by his identical twin. Ronan enlists Ten to help him free Tank and make the guilty party pay.

I’m a huge fan of this series, it really works for me. I love the characters, the family Ronan and Ten is creating, the friends. I love Greeley, watching him grow, no thrive, he really deserves all the happiness he can get. Then there is Kaye, Ten’s mother, whom we first met in the last book Dead to Me. Their relationship is still strained. How can it not be – she and his father did throw Ten out when he was eighteen. Still they are making progress, making an effort to put the past behind them and look forward, starting over. There’s no magic fix, they are not instantly close, but they are taking slow steps to get there.

Ronan and Ten, Ronan mostly, also “adopts” a new person into their circle. Fighting and clawing and with some head-butting to boot, still he became a part of the gang. I do believe Jude is here to stay and it will be interesting to see where it all goes from here as he adds another twist to it all.

Michael Pauley is made for this series! He captures the essence and feel of the plot and all the characters. He makes you feel what the characters feel, that intensity of the first fight (don’t worry it doesn’t last long), the love between Ronan and Ten. The mixed feelings they have towards Kaye, it’s all there in Pauley’s voice. He takes these characters and give them life, and makes you a part of theirs.

I had a blast listening to this book and can’t wait to find out what happens next. Something tells me the relaxing cruise won’t be as relaxing as they all hopes…

Loved this book!

So, confession time. I haven't read or listened to any of the previous books in the Cold Case Psychic series, but I have read (and loved) the Haunted Souls series, which is a spin-off from this one. Frankly, I think I was more confused when I started Ghost of Himself than when I was reading Dead Ringer. Pandora Pine does a great job of giving enough background information about the characters she introduces without making it seem superfluous or too much. And to be perfectly honest, one of the reasons I picked up this book was because it's where Ms. Pine introduces Jude Byrne and the other reason was the case, with me having twin daughters, I find the subject fascinating (just don't tell them that, LOL).

I had met Ronan and Tennyson as secondary characters in HS and I really liked them, and maybe because of that, it was easy to connect with them here as well. Their chemistry and the love they share are palpable and they're really hot together. I loved that they were both flawed and that even if they're thoroughly invested in their marriage, that doesn't mean that they won't fight or get angry when the other one does something not too bright.

I think the secondary characters, including the awesome Bertha, play a big part in how good the books are. The sense of family and friendship, of them all rallying together to help each other, are a huge bonus in reading these books.

The case was really interesting. Twins and the fact that even when they're identical can be so diametrically different from each other is intriguing for me.

The story was well thought out and entertaining and I'll definitely go back (and forward) at some point to learn more about Ronan and Tennyson and their friends.

The narration was really good. There were a few places in which Michael Pauley seemed to pick up steam and go really fast and almost run out of breath as he spoke, but for the most part, the narration was quite solid and enjoyable and I have no trouble recommending this audiobook, especially if you're a fan of the series already.
