Publisher's summary

There’s more than one secret in the old Blackmoore house. Some have been buried for a long time and some are sitting closer to the surface.

Morgan and Fiona Blackmoore enjoy their simple life in the sleepy ocean-side town of Noquitt Maine where they offer herbal remedies and crystal healing for locals and tourists alike.

...Until Morgan is accused of killing the town shrew, Prudence Littlefield.

Suddenly the girls find themselves scrambling to find the real killer while they battle a crooked Sheriff, planted evidence, and a long list of suspects that all had a reason to want Prudence dead.

Handsome Jake Cooper is new to the Noquitt Maine police force, which is exactly why Fiona Blackmoore doesn't trust him. But with time running out and the evidence against her sister piling up, Fiona has to make a choice - will she trust Jake with her sister's case...and her own heart?

Add in an old mansion on the cliffs of Maine, an attic full of mysterious treasures, and a cat that has the uncanny ability to show up at exactly the right time and Fiona has her hands full proving the Sheriff's accusations about her sister being a murderer are Dead Wrong.

This is book 1 in the Blackmoore Sisters Cozy Mystery Series.

Not Terrible

After listening to Hollis McCarthy's delightful narration of the Jane Frost series, I expected this to be more fun. The story itself is fine. Not brilliant, but a nice start to a series about a family of sisters who are "not witches" (though I think they are and maybe don't know it yet. Their cat is certainly not your run of the mill feline).

When a story is not as clever or interesting as it might be, a narrator can often perk it up with energy and humor and characters. (in the same vein, a great story can be brought down by a mediocre read) This didn't happen for me in Dead Wrong. Leighann Dobbs has delivered an okay book in a genre whose readers are always hungry for more.

The Blackwell sisters all have different colored hair and interesting names so we can tell them apart. It's simplistic, but it works - particularly in audio. There's murder and a biased police investigation that runs alongside a deeper, amateur one. Ms. McCarthy could have given us a bit more oomph in her read, but she didn't. It's always hard to know if that was her choice or the choice of whomever directed her, but for me, the result was a book that's only okay. I won't return it, but I also won't continue with the series.

I think it's fine for a beach or plane listen, but it could have been so much better.

it was okay

The story was formulaic. The characters were flat and the mystery was predictable. But it was light, fluffy and quick. I recommend it for a day when you have a lot to do and need background noise.

Blackwood sisters

The Blackwood sisters have to find out who is trying to frame one of them for murder. But the police don't want to find out who that is, but one does.

Not my favorite

The narrator was great, but the story was meh. I love the author's books, so I'm surprised this one left me feeling it could've been better.

Great Little Mystery

Leighanne Dobbs did a very good job with this little cozy mystery. The characters were engaging and the plot interesting. I can't wait to see what the sheriff has up his sleeve in the next book in the series.

Cute story simple plot

Hallmark-style murder story has one sister of four charged with murder on flimsy evidence. Not trusting the police, the sisters try to find the real killer. They, of course, get in more trouble. A new, handsome deputy helping them provides the romantic element. They suspect the chief of police has ulterior motives.

Wonderful book

What is better than starting a book with a murder. The hateful on Prudence and Morgan can't stand each other . Prudence is a hateful lady and Morgan is a fiery red head. With the sexy Jake taken with Morgan. This book is wonderful and packed with suspense till the very end.

Blackmore Sisters

Would you consider the audio edition of Dead Wrong to be better than the print version?

I enjoy the audio versions because it allows my hands to be free, I am not in the position to judge one book over the other. I would say off hand they all would be good. I enjoy all of Mrs. Dobbs books.

What other book might you compare Dead Wrong to and why?

Mrs. Dobbs' writing stands alone.

What about Hollis McCarthy’s performance did you like?

She is great!!!

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy the fact that she ties one look to another, with a reminder of what had taken place previously, it is important to read them own order. And I would like to thank her for such great stories.
