Publisher's summary

A young man's mutilated body is found on top of the Agglestone.

It seems that he was involved in a human trafficking and prostitution gang. But why is DCI Sophie Allen keeping something back from her team? Is it linked to the extraordinary discovery of her own father's body at the bottom of a disused mineshaft, more than 40 years after he disappeared?

Deadly Crimes is the second in a new series of police detective thrillers featuring DCI Sophie Allen, head of the recently formed Violent Crime Unit in Dorset. An English county which includes a stunning section of the coastline, but whose beauty belies darkness beneath the surface.

4.5 rating.Strong,sexy, smart,(DCI) Police .Woman

Would you consider the audio edition of Deadly Crimes to be better than the print version?

The reader was terrific at voices and creating each character. Sophie, main character, is
almost too good to be true. But I loved it. We need more female characters like this.

The story was exciting, involving a White Slave Trade in Europe. It is more of a problem than we realize. Young women from Romania, who are smart and ambitious pay trafficers
to take them to the UK where they can go to school and work in the hospitality field.

However, unknown to the girls and their families, the trafficers have a difference type of
hospitality in mind.

Good story, not depressing, but informative.

What did you like best about this story?

The main character, Sophie. This could be a very heavy subject, criminals who are ruthless and cruel. The authors handles the subject so that we are more aware of this issues and it
prevalence, but does not "hit us over the head with it." Not depressing.

What about Cat Gould’s performance did you like?

Her ability to handle accents, her voice to express emotion and tension. A Very Good Narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I cant think of one.

Any additional comments?

I can't wait got the next book in this series.

Interesting And Distinctive Second Series Volume

Would you consider the audio edition of Deadly Crimes to be better than the print version?

Yes. The narrator made the printed story come alive,

What other book might you compare Deadly Crimes to and why?

This was a combination mystery and justified family revenge story. Like Rebekka Martinsson’s role in Asa Larsson’s Sun Storm (the first series volume, which is on Audible as well).

What does Cat Gould bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is very good as a voice actress/actor. A member of both SAG and AFTRA.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Taking sisterhood and rough justice a step beyond what you might expect, to create a unique ending.

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to volume three, to see what new surprises await.

Ok Story, Terrible Narrator.

Liked the plot. Didn't connect with the main character - likely due to the zombie-like inflection of the narrator. Seriously ruined the ability to suspend disbelief. Worst narrating ever!!!

No improvement over first book in series. Narration is bad.

I could not finish. I am done with the series. Story not good enough to overlook bad narration.
