Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Linda Lael Miller brings you listener-favorite Mojo Sheepshanks, the irreverent P.I. who finds truth in the strangest places - and solves crimes in the strangest ways.…

Mojo is trying to enjoy her lovely new home, courtesy of her wealthy sister, Greer, but she'd rather be back in her apartment over Bad-Ass Bert's Biker Saloon in Cave Creek, Arizona. Life was a lot simpler then. Now her sexy cop boyfriend can't seem to let go of his past, while her sister's being blackmailed for secrets in hers. And Mojo's stuck in the middle again.

Then there's the ghost who comes to her for help...and the threats being made against the still-living. As the murders pile up, Mojo's starting to discover secrets that even the dead don't want disturbed!

I just wish there were more to the series

I absolutely loved the first and the second was even better. Here's hoping there are more to come.

Great story

This book as #2 in the series continues to pull on a great backdrop during serious situations. Mystery crimes, death, blooming love, humor and ghosts make it an enjoyable book. Wish there was a #3 but the population probably could handle the decline.

Too Bad this series didn’t continue.

The characters of Deadly Deception are well written. The book holds two taunt mysteries, and a sizzling romance, but what I think was supposed to be a series ends at this book. Mojo Sheepshanks sees dead people who have been murdered. The paranormal elements aren’t overdone which makes this book believable. Too bad the series didn’t continue as I think the title character Mojo was funny, and genuine. Unfortunately Justin, a ghost, was left hanging for eternity as Miller never finished the series.
The narrator rocked and brought great depth to all the characters. Bennett was very talented in providing unique voices for all the different characters.

Great Stories

Great stories. Loved Mojo's sense of humor. Disappointed that there are not anymore books in this series.

Delightful!

it's the second book in the series. I read the first - Deadly Gamble - and enjoyed it very much. This second one didn't fail to entertain. if anything, I enjoyed it even more as
characters developed and skills and gifts deeepened and became more nuanced. I hope the author comes up with book 3 and look forward to reading it.

Enjoyable amateur ghost-seeing sleuth, plus sex.

Ok, I prefer my mysteries separate from my soft porn - but the author is, I believe, mainly known for her romance novels and as we all know, romance novels are rife with multiple-orgasm sex. (Honestly, I can accept the presence of ghosts WAY easier than I can accept a woman who has an orgasm in under 2 minutes, followed by multiple more orgasms in similar succession. Pu-leese.) I didn't realize that supernatural-mystery-romance was a category, but I guess it is.

That being said, I pretty much loved the non-sex aspects of this book. The story was compelling, the characters were enjoyable, and the only horrible deaths happened to either people you didn't care about or people you hadn't met (I totally hate cosy-style mysteries where the nice people die!)

The reader was ok. Most of the time you could tell who was talking, though occasionally she would read the "I said" or "he screamed" in the same tone as the line itself - which is really about the editing. Ditto for pronunciation issues.

Overall, however, I loved it, quickly bought and listened to the next in the series, and will happily buy the next as soon as it gets written and recorded.

Easy Listen..

Good, relaxing easy listen.. and I like the voice of the reader so that's an added bonus! If you buy into the whole seeing ghosts thing (and why not?!) you'll get a kick out of this. Nice twist at the end too ;)
