About this listen

An explosive international thriller from the Hollywood legend and British icon Sir Michael Caine.

DCI Harry Taylor has no respect for red tape or political reputations - but he's great at catching criminals.

And all his unorthodox skills will be needed as an extraordinary situation unfolds on his doorstep: a metal box of radioactive material is found at a dump in Stepney, East London, but before the police can arrive it is stolen in a violent raid.

With security agencies across the world on red alert, it's Harry and his unconventional team from the Met who must hit the streets in search of a lead. They soon have two wildly different suspects, aristocratic art dealer Julian Smythe in London and oligarch Vladimir Voldrev in Barbados. But the pressure is on. How much time does Harry have, and how many more players will join the action, before the missing uranium is lighting up the sky?

Deadly Game is a compelling, fast-paced audiobook of international intrigue and twisting suspense from a legendary actor and British icon, who now proves himself to be a first-rate thriller writer.

Starts slow, but heats up

A little bit in the fantasy realm, apart from the crime stoppers chase and detective skirmishing. It will be a Netflix series no doubt. The author did well with the characterizations, but, bloody hell, too much swearing. I wondered where it was all heading, and was surprised by the time the tale was told. Don’t read any reviews as they will no doubt tell too much. I wished Michael Caine had read it, but the narrator did very well with all the accents and personalities.

Damn good debut

This is a pretty standard gritty cop thriller, but very well done. The characters are good, the jokes work. Delivers exactly what it promises. My only complaint is the narrator. It’s not that he is awful, but he’s very low key and there is a lot of mouth noise that should have been removed during editing. Regardless, if the synopsis interests you, you will probably like this book.

So much fun!

I can surely rival anyone for “top fan” of Sir Michael Caine. I’ve seen 104 Caine films—in fact, I’ve seen more of his films than the man himself, because he’s never seen Jaws 4, and I’ve watched it like six times! So when I heard he was releasing a novel, I greedily got in line. I kind of assumed he would be reading the audiobook, as he read me his autobiographies, so when I downloaded the book on release day…I was disappointed. Still, I would read it. It couldn’t possibly be worse than The Swarm, or The Hand…ammiright? But omg! Two pages in, I was lost in the utterly Mickelwhitesque intonations of the narrator. Especially when he said “Christ!” Or “F#ck!”…I could perfectly hear my hero. I won’t say anything to spoil the story, but wow! What a story! I never saw it coming! One of my favorite moments is in chapter 29, there’s a funeral where they play the song “The Return of the Los Palmas” by Madness. I love this mention-in-passing, since Madness did the song “Michael Caine.” You’ll love it!

Just wonderful -

The narrator was, of course, absolutely perfect.
The story was extremely compelling, well plotted and kept my attention throughout.
I listened to this book faster than I’ve listened to anything in a long time.
I never leave reviews, but in this case, I’m will make an exception.
Michael Caine, you are an amazing actor and I love your movies but dear sweet Lord, you need to write more books.
Keep this guy who’s your narrator. He’s also an amazing actor, but he gets you.
Recommend highly!
