About this listen

This is an introduction to the Marvel Comic's character, Deadpool. A brief history, this book includes some rare detail and trivia. A must for anyone interested in Deadpool, whether you are a newbie or a seasoned fan. Deadpool has appeared in over 7,000 comic books, yet still is quite an unknown character. While he might have a cult following, his presence is only seen here and there in the comic book realm. Starting as a villain, Deadpool developed into a wise-cracking vigilante, mostly working as a mercenary. This book is an introduction into the history and presence of Wade Wilson, also known as the Merc with a Mouth, better known as Deadpool.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is an ever-expanding film franchise that includes both movies and television series based on characters from Marvel comic books. At 27 movies and counting, the MCU shows no signs of slowing down. With six new movies scheduled to release between 2022 and 2023, and a whole slew of new TV shows in the works, it can be hard for even the most devoted fans to keep track of everything.

Wish it had more insight into deadpool since there are not any other books I could find on here to listen to about him

I know this is a 101 book, so I wasn't expecting a great amount of detail from it. That being said, I learned nothing new beyond what I had learned from watching the first Deadpool movie and spending about 5 minutes googling information on him. I'm glad I didn't pay anything for this audiobook, because I wasn't even worth the 17 minutes I spent listening to it. Probably the only way someone is learning anything from this is if they have never heard of Deadpool before.
As for the narrator, he reminded me of the teacher from Ferris Bueller. He was extremely monotone. A character like Deadpool definitely deserves a narrator who is more animated. With the feeling I got from the narrator, I wouldn't have know he was alive if he wasn't speaking (and even that is questionable given some of the AI text readers I have heard.

Barely even 101

I love Deadpool, but the narrator's droning voice takes away from the story. He sounds so bored.

This book gives listeners who have never looked past the movies that have come put for this character. It gives the facts of who Deadpool is and many other facts like when he first was introduced into the comic book world. Each chapter gives you information on Deadpool and what comics and movies he has appeared in as well as some of his past storylines. This is a very quick listen and is just a list of where Deadpool appears in the comics or movies. If you are a Deadpool fan already you will not get anything from this book.

Nothing much here for deadpool fans. If you know anything about the character, you'll likely get nothing out of this other than the minor thrill of just listening to someone talk about deadpool.

Grievously short already, this audio is composed only a fraction by a (shallow) study of the character; great length is wasted to simply list the comic titles he appears in as well as a recommended shortlist. Further diluting the density of time spent discussing the titular character, and of only cursory interest and unsurprising facts, is an overwrought biography of each of DP's two creators...and a list of their other works.

Achieving only the satisfaction of certain trivial curiosity, this audio delivers only 10 or 15 minutes of actual deadpool content, of which I can't imagine that anyone searching for or purchasing this audio didn't already know. As this title itself points out, 'pool has "a cult following," thus, in hindsight, "Deadpool 101" seems a doomed enterprise from the start. An impulse purchase I already regret, even at ~$2.75.

Short, shorter on content, doomed from the start
