About this listen

They live as outcasts, hated and feared by the very humanity they protect. They are mutants, born with strange and wonderful powers that set them apart from the rest of the human race. Under the tutelage of Professor Charles Xavier, they are more than mutants. They are the X-Men.

Magneto, the X-Men's oldest, deadliest foe, has taken over a top-secret government installation that houses the Sentinels, powerful mutant-hunting robots. The X-Men must fight to keep this deadly technology out of Magneto's hands. But the Acolytes, Magneto's fanatical mutant followers, stand between the X-Men and victory - a victory that’s quickly slipping away - for a more ruthless enemy, the US government, holds the X-Men responsible for the installation's takeover!

This electrifying novel by acclaimed author Christopher Golden is the ultimate adventure that no X-fan should be without!

More, please!

With all the great X-men stories, why can't we get more audiobook adaptations like this?

Fun ride.

First off, I read this book like 20 years ago. It’s just as fun as it was back then, however Nancy Will does a fantastic job bringing the book to life in a way I never imagined. I highly recommend this book to others just for her performance alone. She’s fun and I can’t wait to listen to more of her work.

"To Me, My X-Fans!"

Well, This is the first time I've written a review before listening to a book all the way through. Here's the thing, though: I read these when they first appeared on shelves. I often tell people that if it weren't for comics I never would have learned to read (a little hyperbolic, but not totally untrue). This series helped me make the leap into novels in general. From here I went on to Ludlum, Clancy, Koontz, King and the like, I must have still been in Grade School when I first ran across these (yes, I'm old). And I've listened enough to hear Nancy Wu voice most of the main characters and let me just say... she's great! I never imagined these being read in any voice other than my own, but she absolutely nails it here. I'm pleasantly surprised to say I like her, "Wolverine," voice the most.
Also, what can I say about Christopher Golden? The man was writing teen fiction looong before bookstores had a section for it. He is in top form here. This trilogy is simply steeped in 90's X-men goodness. That being said there will probably be a reference or two to things in the comics at that time that not everyone will get, but not enough to detract from the story.
Bear in mind that this IS the first in a trilogy and I recommend the other two just as strongly. These were some of the first books I looked for when I joined Audible and it's nice to finally see them arrive. I think I set a speed record snapping them up!
I can also safely recommend Golden's, "Codename: Wolverine," or, "Daredevil: Predator's Smile," if these leave you wanting more. I've never read anything of his that I wouldn't recommend, actually. Darn good writer. But my favorites will always be his comic book novels. He just seems to GET x-men. More so than some current writers of the comics, I'd say. And to think: They say, "You can't go home again." This proves them wrong!
EDIT: Finished it in one marathon go. I don't do that often and I don't have much to add. Except this: listen and enjoy!

Good Story

A really good story. a great expansion of a very familiar comic story. Nancy Wu however has a terrible voice for it. The weight of her voice is too light to carry Magneto or Gladiator. She especially shouldn't try a southern or "black" voice. And why is Raza an old timey pirate? Otherwise, no complaints.

One of the Best Trilogies I've ever read

These books are amazing. Fantastic writing. The only gripe I have is the narrator just doesn't deliver the story at the level it deserves. Real shame, her rendition makes it almost difficult to sit through.

X-Men: Siege

Dude.
Did you read X-Men comics in the 90’s? If you did words cannot describe how great this was.
If Corsair and the Starjammers, Deathbird, Sentinels, Avalon and The Acolytes mean anything thing to you…pick this up.
