About this listen

Death of a Policeman: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

From the author of the Agatha Raisin television series...Death of a Policeman: A Hamish Macbeth Mystery

Local police stations all over the Scottish Highlands are being threatened with closure. This presents the perfect opportunity for Detective Chief Inspector Blair, who would love nothing more than to get rid of Sergeant Hamish Macbeth. Blair suggests that Cyril Sessions, a keen young police officer, visit the town of Lochdubh to monitor exactly what Macbeth does every day. Macbeth hears about Blair's plan and is prepared to insure that Cyril returns back to headquarters with a full report. But Cyril is soon found dead, and Hamish quickly becomes the prime suspect in his murder.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Lose the music and background bits! Great for movies, but not for audio books!!! Please!!!

Story good, but…

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

For some reason, the producers felt the need to include a classical type of music at random points of the book. It’s very distracting and irritating. The narrator is very good and my favorite actually. But I will be returning this book because of the irritating music. If I have an option to get this book without the music I would get it instead even with an inferior narrator. Removing the music would be an easy fix.

Background music is a nuisance

At first I HATED the sound effects but soon found They faded into the background as was a very soft enhancement.

As usual, the story and characters were engrossing. I love Beatons development of her characters

Sounds effects - a nice addition

Love this whole series! Quirky characaters you'll love, and so many plot twists that you never lose interest.

A winner!

While I love the story, I’m a big fan of Hamish, I didn’t think the background noise enhanced the narrative.. in fact I found it distracting.

Background noise😳
