Interesting story premise

I just finished the novella deCapitated in Carson City: Capital City Murders Book #4. The premise for the series is intriguing and I look forward to each new book.

The protagonist Nick O'Flannigan is a freelance photographer and an amateur detective. Nick has a contract to take photos of the capitol buildings in each of the 50 US capital cities over a period of 50 weeks for Travel USA magazine. While in Carson City, NV, he also assists the police in identifying a murderer.

Although I enjoyed the story very much, I wish that it had been longer so that the plot could have been more developed.

A very enjoyable listen!

I love the interesting facts about the cities included in these books. It makes me want to go explore the cities and visit the Capitol.
The narrator could use a bit more emotion in his voice at times, but overall a good performance.
The sound quality is amazing.

Great story

I read the e-book when it came out and really liked it! Joseph L. Stevenson made it even better! His voice is perfect. Love the way Nick can ferret out a killer with his photography. I also like the history at the end of each story! Troy and Stuart are amazing storytellers. They make you feel like you are a part of the story. I have read every one in this series so far! I am excited about the Audible! I can listen and do housework at the same time. No guilt about reading🤪

Another Capital City Murder

Again Nick gets himself involved in another murder mystery and once again Lacking in much suspense or action. Really not very impressed by the authors. True you do find out interesting things in the Capital city and where there is good Restaurants. This Narrator still is not the most animated or show emotions in his reading.

Another Great Addition to the Series

I seem to enjoy this series more and more as I go on. Once again, we have the well written character work and engaging story line that I have come to expect from these authors. I also think that the narrator is the prefect voice for this series.

I received this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Capital City Murders - Decapitated in Carson City

Since I normally listen to Audible books, it was great to see another book in this series available. This book was inline with the rest of the series, great story line and narrative. The authors make the book exciting and provides background of the city. I would recommend this series and hope the other books will soon be in Audible.

Baskerville Book Reviews

Another casual, albeit enjoyable mystery. I like how Love Interest makes a return, I was wondering if that plot thread was going anywhere or if it was just in book 3 for the sake of being there. Despite the authors bringing up Interesting Protagonist’s lesbian friend’s sexuality yet again, they at least worked it into the natural dialogue.

I’m getting very sick of Interesting Protagonist calling in a tip to the cops, only for it to be bunk and get told off. Then he calls in again and singlehandedly solves the case. It’s 4 books in and I’m sick of the same, lazy, half-assed writing showing up every time. At one point Interesting Protagonist asks how he’s going to cum up with different and interesting shots for capital buildings 50 times. It’s as if the writers lack self-awareness, as they should be asking themselves that about their mysteries.

The narration was alright. The narrator does a good job of emoting, but not making each character feel distinct and unique. Most characters sound the same when speaking.

A quick trip to Carson City is more than Nick plan

Nick's next stop on his year long trip across the country taking pictures of the different capital buildings takes him to Carson City Nevada. Nick is surprised and curious about a murder that has happened close to his motel. As per usual with Nick he finds himself in a place he shouldn't be. This was only an hour long story so it doesn't take up much of your day. If you'd like to escape for a bit from the chores and want a quick mystery than this is the book for you.

I received a free code from the publisher to listen to this book on Audible.com..This review is my own honest opinion.

A well-written story from a very good author

Decapitated in Carson City: Capital City Murders, Book 4, my seventh read from author Troy Lambert. After reading Silenced in Salt Lake: Capital City Murders Book #11, my first (short) read from author Troy Lambert, I wanted to read more in the series and this one doesn't disappoint. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
