Publisher's summary

"What makes this a great listen is the narrator, Hugh Bonneville. (Yes, Downton Abbey's Lord Grantham has been in the recording studio.) He uses his considerable acting skills to successfully convey the building tension in the chase scenes while differentiating the many characters, male and female. Listeners willing to suspend disbelief will be in for a highly entertaining experience." (AudioFile magazine)

Investigative reporter Ross Hunter nearly didn’t answer the phone call that would change his life - and possibly the world - forever.

"I’d just like to assure you I’m not a nutcase, Mr Hunter. My name is Dr Harry F. Cook. I know this is going to sound strange, but I’ve recently been given absolute proof of God’s existence - and I’ve been advised there is a writer, a respected journalist called Ross Hunter, who could help me to get taken seriously."

What would it take to prove the existence of God? And what would be the consequences?

These questions and their answers lie at the heart of Absolute Proof, an international thriller from best-selling author Peter James.

The false faith of a billionaire evangelist, the life’s work of a famous atheist, and the credibility of each of the world’s major religions are all under threat. If Ross Hunter can survive long enough to present the evidence...

CSI meets Religion With Espionage Thrown In

Hugh Bonneville’s excellent narration made this book so vivid that I could imagine it as a movie. Fast paced and full of plot twists. Highly recommended!

Awesome

I throughly enjoyed this book it’s along the lines of Dan Browns’s but without all the gore. Hugh’s narration was great.

Interesting topic, well written, exceptional narration

This is a very interesting topic in the genre style of Dan brown but still different enough that one should listen to this book. Historical, plenty of action, when does not get bored, and the narrator is among the best that I’ve ever listen to. Overall, and enjoyable experience to listen to this book.

So much introspection

I liked the story but there was so much questioning and self doubt throughout. The protagonist is annoyingly self-focused and his girlfriend was so weird. But besides that I enjoyed listening to it.

what a great story…

just a completely unexpected find (showing my age it is similar to exploring the rows at blockbuster when all the new releases were gone and coming home with a great movie you had never heard of before). And the narration was spot on - who knew english lords read books for a living.

I truly enjoyed this book and moreover the thoughts it has evoked. we all say we want proof of whatever we think, and yet proof never comes like we want it - it is blemished or sullied. moreover, there are powerful parties on every side that pull strings…does proof stand a chance?

absolutely worth reading.

Book of the year!

A perfect combination of author, story, and performer! Fantastic reading by Hugh Bonneville brings to life a completely fascinating, and original, story by veteran Peter James. Slightly off the center plot, with well-written characters, a driving plot, and a resolution just open enough for the listener to interpret themselves. Certainly, there are religious themes here but written in a crafty, non-ecumenical manner.
Most highly recommended book of the year, so far!
