About this listen

President George W. Bush describes the critical decisions of his presidency and personal life.

Decision Points is the extraordinary memoir of America’s 43rd president. Shattering the conventions of political autobiography, George W. Bush offers a strikingly candid journey through the defining decisions of his life. In gripping, never-before-heard detail, President Bush brings listeners inside the Texas Governor’s Mansion on the night of the hotly contested 2000 election; aboard Air Force One on 9/11, in the hours after America’s most devastating attack since Pearl Harbor; at the head of the table in the Situation Room in the moments before launching the war in Iraq; and behind the Oval Office desk for his historic and controversial decisions on the financial crisis, Hurricane Katrina, Afghanistan, Iran, and other issues that have shaped the first decade of the 21st century.

President Bush writes honestly and directly about his flaws and mistakes, as well as his accomplishments reforming education, treating HIV/AIDS in Africa, and safeguarding the country amid chilling warnings of additional terrorist attacks. He also offers intimate new details on his decision to quit drinking, discovery of faith, and relationship with his family.

A groundbreaking new brand of memoir, Decision Points will captivate supporters, surprise critics, and change perspectives on one of the most consequential eras in American history - and the man at the center of events.

An interesting memoir. GW reviews what he considers the major points of his presidency, and why he made the decisions he did, who was involved, and in hindsight how good or bad he did. No, he does not think he was perfect, nor does he think he got everything wrong. Some of the personal high points he reviews not many would have even realized existed.

A really interesting personal review of himself...but then I guess that is what a memoir is all about. I do wish it was read by the author though.

A basic memoir, more personal than expected.

I'm not political at all. I know about politics and current events, but never get in heated arguments about anything. So I was skeptical about liking this book. I thought it was great. At first, I thought the stories were kinda all over the place. But, now I think it was well organized. He had so many stories to tell, he had to stray somewhat to fit them all in. Great stories and great behind the scenes info. About the narrator, thank goodness the iphone app lets you increase the speed. I had the guy on 3x. He talked really slow.

Fantastic

This book is very informative. It lets you see his thoughts on what he did and why. I feel that it was hard to keep up with the time frame at times, he moves from topic to topic and this causes the book not to flow as easy at it should. Maybe it is just because he lists so many dates and talks about the wars and conflicts a lot.

Good Book

I gave this review the same title I gave my Review of President Obama's Dreams From My Father, because it's true. First off, as a book this is very well written, and will be an important primary source for future historians. Decision Points is the perfect title for this book. George Bush goes into detail about the factors and thought process surrounding key decisions during his presidency. I will say I do not agree with a large number of his decisions, but I respect and understand President Bush's position on those issues. I appreciate the candid nature with which President Bush admits he may have made mistakes. I will say I got a little emotional listening to the part of this book discussing 9/11. This book cannot have been easy to write, and I appreciate President Bush taking the time to reflect upon his presidency in this manner.

I Was Surprised How Much I Learned

I enjoyed this book. I found it informative, and enlightening. I think that it’s so important to judge a person, and in particular a president, by their intentions, as well as their actions. I have always believed that George W. Bush made some fairly significant errors in policy, but this confirms my belief that the decisions he made were always made with the good of the country and the American people in mind. I was born during the Reagan administration, and I believe that every president in my lifetime with one glaring exception has worked for the best of the country. I pray that we continue to move forward electing people who use the office like George W. Bush to do what they believe is right for the nation and the world.

Understanding why a person chooses what they choose is so important
