About this listen

President Bill Clinton's My Life is the strikingly candid portrait of a global leader who decided early in life to devote his intellectual and political gifts, and his extraordinary capacity for hard work, to serving the public.

It shows us the progress of a remarkable American who, through his own enormous energies and efforts, made the unlikely journey from Hope, Arkansas, to the White House - a journey fueled by an impassioned interest in the political process that manifested itself at every stage of his life.

Great book. Long and love every minute of it. Clinton tackles all the major events of his Presidency with honesty and tells humerous stories from his childhood. This autobiography is a must have in collections of Presidential bios. There's a magic to listening to Bill's own words. This book reads well sequentially with Bush's Decision Points.

Good book that recounts some major events as recalled from Bill Clinton’s perspective. Wish it had a lot more about his early upbringing.

I should’ve read this a long time ago

A fantastic book that I found to be developmental and maturative for a young man coming of age such as myself. I am an huge fan and advocate for President Bill Clinton and I found this book highly relatable and generally intelligent and I further highly recommend this book.

A wonderful book

Good insight into the mind of Bill Clinton. Good narration. Clinton doesn’t dodge his failings, but he also recognizes his many achievements. It’s a long listen but it went by quick enough.

Worthwhile

This was written in 2004 and is pretty comprehensive although it leaves out some of the more salient points and completely misses other ones. If you like history, you’ll have to listen to it. What I found so striking was the whole impeachment situation that he went through and the nature of it is almost identical to what happened in 2020.

A bit superficial but a good book if you can except it for what it is.

I deeply respect President Clinton, and appreciate this perspective view into events that I lived through as an adult. Clinton was a brilliant though flawed politician who sought to celebrate and protect American diversity of race, religion, heritage, culture, etc., believing that fundamentally we are far more alike than we are different. He recognized the equal value of women in the workplace, and had many women placed in powerful positions for the first time. He sought to make America more fiscally responsible, and the world a better place as he brokered peace in Northern Ireland and worked with leaders bitterly divided in Israel and Palestine. He took readers frankly through the events that led to his impeachment.
This book started with Clinton's early years, being raised by a single Mom in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It's all very interesting, though very detailed, so set aside a good bit of time for this one. The ONE reason I didn't give the story it' 5th star was the author's habit of naming by full name EVERYONE he wrote about.

I have been through many audible listens this one is my favorite the world we know is summed up in the description he shares of our great country

Wonderful

Hands off, one of the cleverest politicians I’ve seen.
50 hours joyful story on how he deftly navigated 12 years as governor and 8 years as president in the murky waters of US politics at home and managed to broker the Middle East peace.
Finishes his book acknowledging the global interdependence of affairs and calls for cooperative attitude in politics.

Very clever

I’ve totally enjoyed these past 50 hours. Great book! Especially interesting is how it comports with what’s happening in Israel right now. POTUS tried so hard for peace. Do yourself a favor and listen!

Excellent

Even after the insane amount of time it took to finish, I was disappointed it did finish. I think he was pretty forthcoming on all his decisions and the issues he faced including the Monica issue. Interesting to see how he started in politics and how he reiterates that there has been a plot to come after him. I think he was a great president but he made some mistakes which he paid for and he mentions them clearly. Great insight into how he made decisions and how the people he was with all his life influenced and how he took pride in making those decisions. The technical issues of chapters were off so it was hard to determine what chapter you were on but this was a great book if you are into politics and enjoy “reading” about it. Be prepared it’s a long book.

I didn’t want it to end.
