Publisher's summary

Have you ever felt your marriage get cluttered up with sins and cumulative wrongs? Do you wish you could deal with it but don't know where to begin?

Douglas Wilson loves to point out that the way you fix these sorts of sin pileups is the same way you declutter a garage: Begin with the first layer, work to the bottom, and then keep it clean. That's because the key to a good marriage is honest, complete, and humble confession of sin.

This short, little audiobook, coming from a pastor with 40 years of experience, offers concrete practical suggestions about how to confess sin properly and how to avoid other snares married people tend to get snagged on, usually depending on whether they're the man or the woman.

Decluttering Your Marriage will give you much gospel advice with much gospel encouragement. Features an extra checklist to help implement this audiobook in your day-to-day lives.

Concise yet powerful

This book identifies the handles that will help to keep a relationship strong or restore a broken marriage. I highly recommend the $3 investment for this book.

Powerful truths, but...

The content of the book is piercing. I’m certain I’ll be referring to these truths for quite awhile. However, I think the reader’s style and expression (or rather lack of), steals from the message itself. Nonetheless, I will still be
recommending the book (yes, even in the audible version).

Precise Advice

I liked the straightforward, biblical encouragement. I see that Douglas Wilson was raised in a great home, He has been privileged with what so many of us have not, a great father. He has gained a lot of wisdom from his father and his studies and the word. I’m very appreciative of these books!

Caustic paint thinner for the old paint on your marriage

To quote CS Lewis, “of course this book is not safe...but it’s very good!”. This book will challenge you to repent of your sins (even small ones) rather than “fix” your spouse. I believe it will definitely help your marriage as a result. So it’s not safe for you, but it’s very good for your marriage.

Short, but helpful

If you’re looking for comprehensive information, this book is not it. It certainly doesn’t claim to be, but it could be a little more specific in its branding. In terms of the content though, extremely important information for a healthy marriage. Sin is at the root of every problem in a relationship. Confession of sin is the only way to be right with God, but confession of sin is also the only way to be right with another person where a sin has been committed. Think carefully and slowly while you read. And read WITH your spouse before trying to start blindly applying what you’ve learned, otherwise much of the advice will really undermine the atmosphere you’re trying to cultivate.
