The hour when dreams turn into nightmares...

Hosted by the Contessa della Trieste, an opulent Carnevale ball in Venice takes a terrifying turn for American book critic Jordan Riley. As festivity turns into frenzy, Jordan is rescued by a powerful man disguised as a wolf. But was the mayhem she witnessed - the blood, the fangs, the screams - truly just entertainment, or something far more sinister?

And pleasure beckons from beyond...

From a deconsecrated Venetian church to a secret society in New Orleans, Jordan is led on a nightmare journey to the razor’s edge of reality. Her mysterious savior is always a shadow behind her, both tormenting and tantalizing her, as Jordan discovers a world of predators and survivors, a new order of vampires - and an eternal hunger that threatens to consume her.

Too much discrption

The base story line is great, but too much descriptive detail reguarding landscape, buildings, etc. Made the story lag and become dull. Some detail is necessary and enhances the story. There was just too much in this book.

I'll call this a no.

Story was all over the place, difficult to follow to many characters very little romance, won't be reading more of the series.

This is laugh to loud AWFUL!!

If this author could actually write, this could have been a good book. The premise had good bones, the background of Venice beautiful and intriguing, but, the story was very weak. The heroine was written as dumb as dirt and not too likable, bad combo. She did dumb shit that even a B movie screamer wouldn't try, over and over, never learning from the previous experience. DUH!! The only part I enjoyed was Ragnor's background story, like Lucien's story in the previous book. Otherwise, that one was pretty silly also. I am sending this book back for a refund, nuff if enough!

Sorry I wasted my time struggling thru to the end.

What disappointed you about Deep Midnight?

CHARACTERS WERE UNAPPEALING & INCONSISTENT. STORY STRUCTURE WAS CHOPPY AND THE FLASHBACKS DID NOT HELP THE STORY LINE ...ONLY FILLED MORE PAGES.

What do you think your next listen will be?

It will be a long while before I am willing to spend time on another story by this author.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Tanya Eby?

Yes...her voice was the only good feature.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Deep Midnight?

The author.

Any additional comments?

One can only hope it was a shadow writer that can be fired. I have read other books by this author and find this story a severe disappointment.

Not good for me

I enjoyed the first two books of this series but this one really stunk it up for me. The heroine was so stupid I couldn’t get past it. Bad things happen at night. How many times can you go out in the evening and be shocked about how dark it has gotten? Well the answer is about a zillion. Also it was very confusing on the past. I think it got out of order or something. This was just not good.

Awful writing and performance

I normally like all Heather’s books, but this one seems to come out of kindergarten. The heroine is sometime stupid yet the only one that doesn’t fall prey to the bad guy. Very cheesy
