Heather Graham writing as Shannon Drake

In the days when Scotland lay under siege - from the Vikings who sailed from the north and the Norman English who came from the south - King David sought to unite his people into one nation. For this, he needed loyal warriors. Waryk de Graham soon proved the greatest of these fighters, and was knighted Lord Lion. But his honored position came with a price: a wife chosen for him by the king - a reluctant Viking bride.

Daughter of a Gaelic noblewoman and a Viking warlord, Mellyora MacAdin had an imagination that blazed with dreams of ancient myths and tales of adventure. She had already pledged her heart when she received King David's decree to marry the fierce Lord Lion. As he came to claim her, Mellyora swore to resist this barbarian nobleman - only to find herself a willing partner to his seduction. Now, torn between defiance and devotion, Mellyora must decide where her future truly lies, as she discovers the savagery in her family's blood, and the secrets of her husband's heart.

Great book !!

Ms Graham does a great job with the history of the time. The characters were exceptional and the reader does a fabulous job with her portrayal of each character.

Slog through the 1st half & enjoy the rest.

I would rate the first half as a 2 simply because I couldn't stand how the h behaved in the beginning. She came across as spoiled, stupid and childish, which didn't seem to be her normal behavior from what we see in the early beginning and the last half. I would rate the second half a 4.5, it was much more enjoyable.

A wonderful tale of love, hate, battle and history

A head strong woman, who speaks when she shouldn't and doesn't talk when she shoulfd. A stronger man with the patience of Job. A perfect match in old Scotland.

A bit of a disappointment

As a long time fan of Heather Graham's romances, I was excited to have the chance to listen to this one. Unfortunately, I didn't like the narrator's voice at all. It just didn't seem right for the story and with all the accents involved, she just couldn't carry it off. It's one of those books I think I would've enjoyed much more had I physically read it, rather than listen to it.

Comes the Morning

It was a great idea. I don't think that I can get enough of the book? I love the book and I don't want to miss anything that happens in the next book? You should have a little more love to liven it up and then more fighting so they can make them feel better?

A Great Book! Worth the Read! ❤

So I saw this book at a store and bought it. But being a busy mother, working full time and practically homeschooling my kiddo. I have had very little time to sit down, let alone open a book to read it. So I looked it up and found it on Audible. I didn't expect much but I should have! I was blown away by the heroine and the kings champion. I've always loved a good romance novel with a bit of clashing personalities, humor and mischief. The way this book is written and read are very well done as well. Thank you Author, Narrator and Audible!

Unique, Funny and Exciting!

I have been reading more books these past few months rather than listening to audio-books, because I was making poor choices; either the story was lacking or the narrator spoiled it. But I got lucky with "Come the Morning" . Not only is the story unique, but the author keeps things flowing and exciting. I listened to it 13 1/2 hours straight through except for a few hours of sleep and other necessities.

The story is about the daughter of a Gaelic noblewoman and a Viking warlord, Mellyora MacAdin and the King's Champion Waryk de Graham; Lord Lion. Mellyora (who was trouble with a capital "T") had already pledged her heart to her childhood sweetheart when she was summoned to appear before her godfather, King David. When she was told she was to marry the fierce Lord Lion (whom she thought was an old Norman knight) and he would take control of her lands, she decided to disobey King David. She was not going to allow King David to make decisions concerning her future and assumed if she escaped from the castle she could go home and be independent. Once outside the castle, thing do not go as she planned. It had me laughing out loud.

The story has all the elements that make a great story.
Narrator Sandra Burr gave a good performance.

I highly recommend it.

COME THE MORNING HAD A GOOD STORY LINE. ALSO LIKED THE NARRATOR. WHICH SAYS ALOT. STORY COULD BE THE BEST , BUT WITHOUT A GOOD NARRATOR, IT FALLS FLAT

A Passionate Love Story

Come the Morning is enemies to lovers, medieval romance. Mellyora was ready did not want to Waryk de Graham, but King David decreed it as a way to award Waryk for service as her hand in marriage comes in a fortress and land that is invaluable. Mellyora fought Waryk on land, on a boat, and kept running away until she decided it would be best to marry him. However, a villain wants Mellyora for himself and Waryk dead. This book was adventurous with a passionate love story. Mellyora and Waryk were strong characters. The story was engaging despite some of the flaws that come with an older historical romance. Heather Graham can write a good enemies to lovers story!
