About this listen

Introducing Cowboys and Debutantes! Enjoy these clean and wholesome, sweet historical Western romances. These riches-to-rags shorts prove that love can be found in the most unexpected places and that money does not always make the man. But as our debutantes know, it sure helps!

Della Stout can hardly believe it when her father tells her he's lost it all - the money, the house, the servants, their entire fortune. But things only get worse when they inform her she's to be sent west, as a mail order bride. When she meets her husband to be, she's less than impressed - by him and the dusty little town he lives in.

Clement White has spent his whole life working toward this moment. After opening a bank in Montana Territory, he feels as though his dreams have come true. All but one - he realizes there's no one to share in the fruits of his labor. A mail order bride seems like just the thing to complete his life - that is, until she arrives. Suddenly he's saddled with a woman who doesn't know a stove top from a wash tub, and, to make matters worse, she wants nothing to do with him.

What happens next? Find out in this fun, romantic caper set in the Old West.

A Mail Order Bride for Happily Ever After

This is a short western romance about Della Stout and her experience as a mail order bride. Having had her father lose all the families financial holdings, Della was sent to be a mail order bride to Clement White. Neither character is happy with the arrangement initially and differences between the two ensue. Very happily ever after escape read.
Meghan Kelly, as the audio’s narrater does an exceptional job with great voice quality and inflection. She made it possible to understand character dialogues easily and discern who was speaking or thinking in third person. Her performance made for a great presentation of this book and certainly enhances the storyline. Overall, I feel this a worthwhile but short read and is one audio in a sequence of four. Recommend.
I was given this book for the purpose of reviewing however, comments and opinions are my own and were not solicited.

A great book for your commute!

ella was rich until her father lost it all. Now her mother sends her off to be a mail order bride so that she may live a life that her parents can not loner afford. Clement is a successful banker in Montana and enjoys his life except for one missing element, a wife. So, he does what other frontier men have done, order a mail order bride to share his life and take care of his home. What happens when Della is not quite what Clement had dreamed of? Will they be able to get over some of the expectations they both have of each other and find that love or will they find themselves in a loveless marriage?

Della is a sweet little book that makes you smile the whole time. Vivl Holt has done a great job with her story and Meaghan Kelly is her normal amazing self! I liked this book and was able to listen to it to and from work. It made my commute more enjoyable.

Good book in the series

I listened to this one on audio. The premise of this series is great. I loved the way these characters interacted. The way the book was written was well done. I like how Della meets and helps people. Looking forward to more in the series.

SHE’S NO BRIDEZILLA

Della is the second book in the Cowboys and Debutantes series. This series is co-authored with Kit Morgan. I’ve been offered the books penned by Vivi Holt from this series and told they will stand without the companion books. I’ll let you know! I can tell you that Della stands on its own.

There couldn’t be much more different about the two people thrown together as mail-order bride and her groom than Della and Clement. Della is a debutante from New York City who is used to parties and fun, servants and society. Clement is a banker in a small western town with dirt roads and simple dreams.

Della may be a debutante, but she isn’t a screaming Bridezilla. She has accepted that she is a mail-order bride because of the circumstances of her father’s business. The situation may not be easy, but it is entertaining to read as Della and Clement grow together to become a couple ready to become a family.

Clement is exactly the kind of man a woman would hope to find at the end of her journey to become a mail-order bride. He is patient, kind, and generous. He even encourages and helps her to find new friends in her new town.

I really enjoyed this low-stress sweet romance. I’m looking forward to reading/listening to more of the series.

Narration: Meghan Kelly is one of my favorite narrators. She has a very relaxing way of reading that never feels rushed. With a short story, this is even more important, because I like to feel that I’m hearing every word of what is being given.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Cowboys & Debutantes

A very sweet Mail Order Bride novel. Della Stout is forced to become a mail order bride when her family loses everything to a swindler. Can she make the transition from New York City debutante to Montana bride?

The characters are wonderful and the story is often humorous, as Della has to learn to cook and clean (among all the other things that young brides need to do). Clem White is a perfect gentleman, running his own bank and living in a small apartment above the bank.

The growing relationship between Clem and Della is wonderful and I especially enjoyed "meeting" the ladies in the town of LIvingston, Montana.

If you enjoy a sweet, clean romance with a HEA ending, this is a great short book to listen to as you commute or work. The narrator does a very good job and added a lot to my enjoyment of the book.

Sweet Story!

Vivid Holt has penned a sweet story of the old west. Meghan Kelly did a fantastic job narrating it.
Della’s father lost everything he had in New York City. He sent Della out West to Livingston, Montana to be a Mail Order Bride. When she got there, she met Clement and married him the same day. Clement had worked hard all of his life to get enough money to open his bank. He learned she couldn’t do domestic work at all and he didn’t know anything about relationships. He knew they were in for it now!

short historical romance

I really enjoyed this short romance. I do wish it was longer. Being as it is part of a series I will hopefully get to know more of the Della and Clem story. Meghan Kelly has done a good job narrating the story. She made miss Prim and Proper Della sound a little to prim and proper but was still good. This is a sweet and clean romance so good for any one YA and up.

Della Stout is a spoiled little rich girl, she is used to having the finest things, going to parties and being waited on hand and foot.. When daddy looses all of his money she is sent to the Montana Territory as a Mail Order bride. She is to marry Clement White. She gets there and finds a whole new world to what she is used to. Not only must she learn to love her new husband but she also has to learn how to fit into the town, and to cook and clean.
