About this listen

When I first landed a bartending job at the local guild, I didn't know a thing about magic. These days, I'm practically an expert on the different magical classes, but there's one nobody ever talks about: Demonica.

Turns out they have a good reason for that. My guild is strictly hellion-free, because who wants to risk life and limb to control the biggest bullies on the mythic playground?

Well, some people do, and now a demon has been loosed in the city. My three best friends are determined to slay it, but even badass combat mages are critically out-magicked. And that's not all. The monster they're tracking-it's not hiding. It's not fleeing. It's not leaving a trail of corpses everywhere it goes.

The demon is hunting too. And in a city full of mythics, it's searching for deadlier prey.

If we can't unravel the demon's sinister motivations, more innocent people will die, but finding the answers means digging into dark secrets...and learning truths I never wanted to know.

Make sure to check out the companion series, The Guild Codex: Demonized, available now, and The Guild Codex: Warped, coauthored by Rob Jacobsen.

Another great story

I just love a sassy heroine with attitude to spare. I have read all the Guild Codex books and they do not disappoint.

Ezra's story

Tori is officially a registered magic user and member of the guild. Yipee. I was getting tired of her issues. Tori really pissed me off in this story. She is like Tori on steroids. She comes across as nosy, presumptions and hypocritical. She’s in Kai’s business, when her relationship with Aaron wasn’t honest. At one point it was a toss up to who she was going to have a relationship with Aaron or ghost. Considering her faults, I don’t think it is fair that she is up in the guys business telling them how to live. Her relationship with her brother is fractured.

It seems that Annette Marie, the author, is letting us in on the history of our mages’ past. The previous book we discovered information about Kai’s family and this story center on Ezra’s. Ezra past plays a big part in this story and it is very captivating. I am assuming we will discover more about our rich mage Aaron in the next book.

If you got to this point you know how the characters roll. Marie does not disappoint. There is still the snarky conversation, the guys protecting each other’s back, them getting into trouble with the council, and Darius getting them out of jams. There is a threat to the city that mandates all members from all guilds work together.
Sit back and enjoy the story.

Series worth listening to more than once

I have listened to all four books that are currently on Audibles at least 4x each. Still not even bored. I love all the characters. I can't wait for more of the series to be available on Audibles.

Epic!

The story continues to draw me in deliciously. This is book 4 and every bit as wonderful as books 1-3.

Demons!

It's Halloween and now we are really being introduced to Demons and our favorite mages link to them. This is another fun, action-packed great book that really explores one of our mages pasts.

Tori is once again in the thick of Mythic chaos. If she is around S*** is going to go down and she is going to be right in the middle of it. This book sets you up to want that up-coming book. Especially with what happens at the very end.

I really enjoy these books

When I am having a stressful week at the office, these books are just what I need. Very light hearted, easy listen and enjoyable. This is the kinda book you want just to lift your mood and let you forget about all the stress in your life for a while. It is most likely leaning towards YA but that ok with me, I am an equal opportunity book lover!
