Publisher's summary

When I first landed a bartending job at the local guild, I didn't know a thing about magic. These days, I'm practically an expert on the different magical classes, but there's one nobody ever talks about: Demonica.

Turns out they have a good reason for that. My guild is strictly hellion-free, because who wants to risk life and limb to control the biggest bullies on the mythic playground?

Well, some people do, and now a demon has been loosed in the city. My three best friends are determined to slay it, but even badass combat mages are critically out-magicked. And that's not all. The monster they're tracking-it's not hiding. It's not fleeing. It's not leaving a trail of corpses everywhere it goes.

The demon is hunting too. And in a city full of mythics, it's searching for deadlier prey.

If we can't unravel the demon's sinister motivations, more innocent people will die, but finding the answers means digging into dark secrets...and learning truths I never wanted to know.

Make sure to check out the companion series, The Guild Codex: Demonized, available now, and The Guild Codex: Warped, coauthored by Rob Jacobsen.

Ezra revealed

A city-wide demon hunt mobilizes all guilds, with Tori acting as support at the Crow &Hammer. When a quick trip to the bakery results in a demon attack, it reveals the misdirection being practiced by The Keys of Solomon, a nomadic
demon-hunting guild. And it reveals Ezra’s talents to Tori and a group of KOS.
I was less than impressed with Tori’s inaction during the battle in the park, but she redeemed herself at the warehouse. The battle between the demons was a bit chilling, but not horror-movie horrific.
Dukehart does a decent job of narration.

Cant wait for the next one!

The only drawback to these books is that the series hasn't been completed yet. I would wish the author to write faster but then the books probably wouldn't be as good.

WOW, EXCELLENT CONTINUATION

Most enjoyable. There are lots of action and intrigues. The protagonist and her 3 best friends rock! Good narration and the storyline moved along smoothly. Waiting anxiously for the next book to come out.

Ezra's story

Tori is officially a registered magic user and member of the guild. Yipee. I was getting tired of her issues. Tori really pissed me off in this story. She is like Tori on steroids. She comes across as nosy, presumptions and hypocritical. She’s in Kai’s business, when her relationship with Aaron wasn’t honest. At one point it was a toss up to who she was going to have a relationship with Aaron or ghost. Considering her faults, I don’t think it is fair that she is up in the guys business telling them how to live. Her relationship with her brother is fractured.

It seems that Annette Marie, the author, is letting us in on the history of our mages’ past. The previous book we discovered information about Kai’s family and this story center on Ezra’s. Ezra past plays a big part in this story and it is very captivating. I am assuming we will discover more about our rich mage Aaron in the next book.

If you got to this point you know how the characters roll. Marie does not disappoint. There is still the snarky conversation, the guys protecting each other’s back, them getting into trouble with the council, and Darius getting them out of jams. There is a threat to the city that mandates all members from all guilds work together.
Sit back and enjoy the story.

Series worth listening to more than once

I have listened to all four books that are currently on Audibles at least 4x each. Still not even bored. I love all the characters. I can't wait for more of the series to be available on Audibles.

Epic!

The story continues to draw me in deliciously. This is book 4 and every bit as wonderful as books 1-3.
