About this listen

How did I end up being one of the good guys? I’m supposed to be a demon.

Just when we thought the threats we were facing might finally be gone, a magical attack forces us to realize we couldn’t be more wrong. As if the supposed “Pureblood” witches would stop trying to take down magical mutts like us. Among them these days is our old friend, Zachary, and if he’s behind the attack he’s right in thinking we haven’t forgotten how he betrayed us. Which may be why he decided to strike first. Like they say, there’s no animal more dangerous than one who fears itself cornered.

As if that isn’t enough to have me stressing out completely, I take on a mission of mercy—because, you know, that’s what the good guys do—taking me back to the one place to which I swore I’d never return. Namely, the demon realm, this time with Lolo, my very best cambion friend. Like I should be surprised when I find myself once again trapped. Because, hey, that place is basically Hell. But I don’t end up ensnared in any way I ever could have imagined, as I end up being forced to play the part of an official bounty hunter serving the crown. To keep me in line, the death priests bind my soul to that of another. He’s called a Sentinel and his job is to make sure I do mine, which means hunting the very same souls I came to protect. Of course, he doesn’t know who I truly am, and if I don’t manage to keep my identity secret I sure as hell won’t be leaving Hell again. At least, not alive. Which means the same, of course, for Lolo and those we promised to save.

The Shadow Order is a fast-paced, unpredictable new urban fantasy that listeners are calling “amazing,” “with strong female leads,” and “full of excitement!” If you like snarky kickass heroines, fast-paced action, magic, witchcraft, and romance, then grab it today!

Amy Hall is fantastic as narrator

I was so excited for this book and for Amaya's story to continue. I was not disappointed. Make sure you're all caught up with this series as this is definitely not a standalone. Amaya is mostly the storyteller in this one, Cassie has a few chapters, and I'm so excited for how much she's grown. Amaya accepts who she is and what she can do more than she ever has and I love what she does with it! I love that she goes back to the demon realm. The things Amaya gets into... Lukeren and Jeremy are some new additions that had me watching to see what would happen. I love the way the story flows, and the ending leaves me wanting the next book right now!

Wish I could give ten stars!

Absolutely love this series! The story pulls you in and the characters keep you there! The narration is phenomenal! When you listen, you will see that each voice is clearly separate. She keeps up the pace written by the author and never falters. This author delivers, and then some. Highly recommend this series for anyone who enjoys a great story! This series and narrator are a step above! Listen to the whole series as written for the most enjoyment! Can’t wait for the next!

Another action packed story

This book picks up right where the last one left off. Amaya and the gang are back at it again with attempting to rescue those Lolo wants to save. It's not only for Lolo but because everyone deserves to be free. Cassie still has a foreboding feeling regarding the man she loves but isn't sure what to believe. After all, a dream is just a dream or is it. While the gang saves new friends and destroy enemies, old enemies have also been freed, leaving the gang wondering who else is involved. This story is full of characters you will love and hate, action, a touch of romance, laugh out loud moments and more. I think paranormal book lovers will enjoy this series.

Outstanding Story!

The author has once again delivered with a wonderful story with characters that have been expertly developed and contigo show more and more heroic spirit and backbone!
Amy does a fantastic job with the characters and dialogue, but something seems a bit off with the narrative. It seemed like Alexa was reading it in Amy's voice. Not bad, but timings and inflection.
Still a great listen that I very much recommend.

This Series is Constant Action!

Constant action because constant conflicts in dealing with the diamond relm and bad Witches. One problem comes to an end and just after another arises. Narrator does a very good job with the characters and Storyline.

Great addition to the series!

What a wonderful addition the series! Cassia and Amara find themselves working hard to try and right wrongs, free someone held in working bondage in the underworld and making sure the baddies from the previous books stays where they are being held. As the story progresses they face trials, twists and challenges along the way. If you have been listening to the series, this one, just like the first 3 books, does not disappoint! The narrator did a great job of bringing you through the story with it's continued amazing world and character building and giving life to both the characters and the worlds where they live. The epilogue gives a look forward to the next adventure in the series. Can't wait!

Still good but seems to loose a little slow

Don't get me wrong the storyline is good but it's not as flowing between characters swapping MC as the first two I've listened to. I hope as the series continues that the Unfamiliar has a more; predominant, symbiotic, powerful, engaged magically with their assignments... They are my favorite part of the different books

Perfect combination!

This book is the perfect collaboration between a terrific story and a wonderful narrator. Amy Hall brings the right energy and emphasis to the characters and somehow manages to make them distinct and recognizable. J.S. Malcom brings a fast paced, character driven supernatural mystery to the plate. I always enjoy reding J.S. Malcom's books but listening to them on audible makes it a completely different experience. The characters are compelling, with realistic traits that really make you want to cheer them on. Their interactions are hilarious, I feel like I'm joining old friends and am part of the group when I read about their adventures and heartaches. There's a lot going on in this book, a new home base to explore, some new locations in the Demon Realm, some new bad guys along with some old, really bad guys. Amaya grows even more as a character and starts mentoring her cambion friends. Reading this just made my heart happy!
