About this listen

"Dark Hunt is a thrilling paranormal story, which will have you reading late into the night. I devoured it, and I couldn’t stop." (Boundless Book Reviews)

Broke and living in a one-bedroom apartment the size of a closet is not what you’d expect from an elite hunter like me. But hunting demons and half-breeds isn’t your average nine-to-five job with benefits. The hours are long and the pay usually sucks. I didn’t think I was going to make rent again until the Council, the group of angel-born who’d shunned me all those years ago, offered me a job - a paying one. I could either tell them to shove it, or take the job. So what’s a gal to do? Take the gig, of course.

Everything would have worked out fine if the Council hadn’t forced me to work the case with Jax - an angel-born warrior who happened to be way too pretty to be legal. Turns out Jax has an agenda of his own and is determined to make my life hell, but I’m stuck with him. For now. And things went downhill from there when I found out the demon I’m hunting is a Greater demon. And yeah, it’s hunting me too. Swell.

Dark Hunt is a sassy, fast-paced urban fantasy filled with demons, angels, vampires, werewolves, witches, fae, leprechauns, jinn, and shifters. If you enjoy urban fantasy books with a kick-ass heroine and plenty of action, suspense, and humor, then you’ll love listening to Dark Hunt.

I was ready to kill her myself when she was on the right path and then suddenly, for no apparent reason and no logic whatsoever, jumped so far off course it hurt.

As for narration, it was like hearing Poe's The Raven read by Hello Kitty on helium. There's none of the bass or gravitas this books needs to be an effective listen. The narrator is not a bad barrator, this is just not her kind of book to read, in my opinion.

Good book but...

Too gory and demonic for my squeamish nature🤣. If you like demonic stories have at it.

Not for me. DF

I read the books on kindle and decided to try the Audible version. Highly recommend!

The narrator does a great job. It really adds to my ability to see what the author is telling in the story.

Audible version is a great addition

This story is perfect for something fun to listen to during the summer. It's got all the good supernatural elements: sexy vampires, demons, angels, those hunting demons....it's just fun! The narrator drew me in. Her voice for the main bad guy gave me the creeps as I was picturing him speak.

Just fun

This series is really geared towards teen girls. Probably an ok listen for that age group. Not worth the credit for adult listening

Favorite author, good story. But I couldn’t finish the book, as I couldn’t tolerate listening to the narrator.

Narrator awful

I’m enjoying this series. I’m on the third now. I really like the narrator overall but there are some mispronounced words that keep happening. So just in case Rebecca Magnus reads the reviews: the word to describe a beautiful women is “voluptuous”, not volumptuous. There is no M in the word. When someone is anxious, there nerves are as “taut” as guitar strings, not taunt. No N in that one. And I’m pretty sure a guy named Jax’s twin sister’s name would be pronounced like “Jillian”, even if it starts with a G. She says it with a hard G, as in “Gilligan’s Isle”. Had to get that off my chest. But good story and overall a very easy to listen to narrator.

I like the story and the narrator but...

I only write reviews when compelled by the very best or the worst books. Unfortunately, this is the latter. The writing is clunky and I often found myself cringing and considered returning the book. To put that in perspective, I have listened to somewhere between over 800 audiobooks and have only considered returning 2 others. There were background story details that made no sense or seem contradict each other. The MC is an idiot. Over and over again the MC makes obviously poor decisions because of a nonexistent urgency or because she thinks there is no choice when there are...you know what, I could go on and on. I gave the book a chance and heard it out to the end but I am glad it is over and will not be continuing the series.

happy it's over

Kick ass heroine? I don't think so. Moron? Yes. What little plot there was, went squirrelly from the start. Definitely for young adults. It was bumbling buffoons constantly getting their butts kicked. I won't continue with the series.

Lame

no character development. story just plows ahead without embellishment and barely any detail or context.

barely one dimensional
