Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Of the three books featuring these characters, this one was my favorite. The relationships between the heroes start to really develop, and the story was a nice mix of history, character development, and adventure. I like all three of the books featuring these characters, though, and you cannot go wrong with any of them. Be sure to read them in order, though.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Descent Into the Depths of the Earth?

The climactic rescue scene in Lolth's temple!

Which character – as performed by Bernard Setaro Clark – was your favorite?

Hoopie! Has to be Escalla!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, not an extreme reaction, although he does a good job of making you care as much for some of the more minor characters, like Henry, as much as you do about the main characters.

Any additional comments?

Read all three if you can. The first is more of a tribute to a classic D&D module, this one introduces the main villain and fleshes out the background for Escalla. The last one is a nonstop high paced action adventure!

Hoopie!

I read this back in 2005 and the story has always stuck with me. Each and every story was action packed and kept me interested from start to finish. When I saw the audiobook of Descent Into the Depths of the Earth I just had to revisit the story of Escala, the Justicar and their companions. Highly recommend!!!

EXCELLENT STORY!!!

I really enjoyed the book, and I enjoyed Bernard Setaro Clark’s reading even more. This is not great literature, but I do like to enjoy some nostalgic mind candy nonetheless. I look forward to the next adventure.

Great mind candy

Haviing listened to "White Plume Mountain" (the first book in this series; it's not absolutely necessary to listen to it first, but I recommend it), I knew excactly what to expect from this book, and I got it: a fast-moving and light-hearted dungeon crawl with plenty of action and humor. In addition, this book also has a fun element of court intrigue.

The trio from White Plume Mountain retuns in "Descent," with the addition of a new, unskilled team member, Private Henry. I particularly enjoyed the development of this character.

This was a fun, fairly light listen that kept my interest throughout.

Where does Descent Into the Depths of the Earth rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Liked the book immensely. This ranks in my top 25th percentile. Too many things crammed together to tightly at the end made it difficult for a "light read". It was as though the author or editing staff rushed to get an ending. Still, the setup was strong and engaging, hooking the listener with strong character development and interaction. The stories mystery was wonderfully crafted and presented.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Descent Into the Depths of the Earth?

Nothing stands out strongly to me.

What about Bernard Setaro Clark’s performance did you like?

Mr. Clark has a wonderful storytellers voice. One could easily imagine him in an old time pub telling tales that captivated listeners. Characterizations were eloquent and superb.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

At the end I was impressed with the fairy lords love for his daughter.

Any additional comments?

A great listen to say say the least.

Mysteries in fantasy land.

I really liked and enjoyed this entire series, wish he had written more... Characters develop as the series progresses...

Good old fashioned D&D

It was sitting down for an old session of D&D. The narrative was like spending some time at home when I was a kid! it's characters were fun and just like would be played! It's a great book if you like fantasy!!!

Old School D&D

I quite enjoyed this second installment of D&D, action packed, well paced, smart protagonist and hell on wheels. During my read I found myself thinking that if Riddick had a crew and magic it would be like this. Can't wait to start the third one.

All I'm saying is that I want a fairy princess of my very own. And a Justicar for back up. OK OK, bring Polk along too. Need to get treatos for my favorite literary pupper too. Oh and a brush for catlady too.
Look, I have had a lot of fun with Paul Kidd's book in this series and have happily listened to them all multiple times now. if you're an old school RPG gamer like I am, you'll have fun with this.

so much fun.

In addition to the nostalgia I felt, because I loved the old modules, it was well written and narrated. The narrator did multiple voices beautifully.

Loved it
