Publisher's summary

Best-selling romance author Jenna Hardy, aka Cassandra Hart, sprints through life from one appearance to the next, always on deadline, always in demand, always on the arm of a different beautiful woman. She has no personal life, because her entire existence is public, and part of her appeal. She loves the tempo, the power, the thrill until the pace catches up to her and she collapses at a book signing.

Her doctor orders rest, her editor wants a three book series yesterday, and her attorney informs her she has just inherited a farm in the backcountry of Vermont. Divine intervention or Fate's little joke? The only thing that might possibly save her from dying of boredom during a summer of forced R and R is a dalliance with Gardner Davis, the local vet. Unfortunately, everything about Jenna's high-profile lifestyle is exactly what Gard wants to leave far, far behind. That and a dark secret that haunts the new life she's made.

I needed more background.

Radclyffe did a great job leading Jenna character, but left Gard's character lacking any past. even at the end when Gard revealed the big secret it was lacking. Very predictable.

Just Ok

Narration difficult to listen to. Not my favorite Radclyffe story; shallow, typical, predictable. Love scenes were awkward and unrealistic. Still, I was interested enough to finish the read.

Everything and more!

I enjoy reading anything the Radclyffe writes. This was another winner written by Radclyffe, and the narrator, Sarah Lawrence was absolutely perfect! The character of Gard was well written, and heart wrenching. I just could not put this one down. I look forward to listening to another novel read by Ms. Lawrence; very well done. Thank you for this story, Radclyffe. It was not what I expected, but still great! Well worth the read or an even better listen.

and She Rolls On

You know what you're going to get with a Radclyffe novel; some books are better than others but there are some things you can count on. The butch half of the couple will be one of the better human beings ever to stride the earth. This is a woman who is almost always heavy on certain masculine characteristics but with the descriptive terms used in this book would challenge the machismo of an MMA fighter. The femme side of the couple will be confused about either her sexuality or the character of her prospective partner. Both aspiring lovers are scarred by their pasts and they both have probably trusted too easily and/or loved too much. There are some high points and the setting is rugged and beautiful; a small town in rural Vermont, although I suppose rural Vermont is a redundant phrase. I'm unsure about a recommendation here, if you happen to be a fan of hers you'll probably like it, if you're a Radclyffe virgin I would suggest another selection like Against Doctors Orders, Wild Shores, or the Lonely Hearts Club.

Good Book but just misses being Great!

Where does Desire by Starlight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

First off I am crazy about Radclyffe, and love her books, So just sticking with her books:Her Triple powered series of the Providence Tales, Her Honor Series, and her Justice Series are hard to beat, add in her First Responders, Her New Doctors Series, Her Old Doctors series i.e. Turn Back Time etc, She just has so many books, that crossover into different universes. Take this one, One of the charterer was Blare's best friend from the Honor series. It has nothing to do with the Honor series, it's just a continuity thing. So ranking is hard, Of all those series books listed, not to mention stand alone's, Some are better than others, It would be way below the stand along Secret in the Stone, But above the (I just went blank) so I have no Idea what to put it above. I know its lower than all the Providence Tales and about 3/4 of the Justice books, All the First Responders, And All her New Doctors Series -the one with the family of doctors taking over the hospital in the country and where the ER head fall for the woman send down to hacket the hospital but ends up saving it and taking over the administration of it. (I just spoiled the whole story so it's just as well that I didn't give a title.) Boy this is a hard question.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Desire by Starlight?

When they make love for the first time before they really know each other's secrets, and they just do it anyway because the draw is there, and they just feel something for each other without really knowing the other person well.

Which scene was your favorite?

I like the truth scene when Holt finally tells her-her big secret and well she isn't that surprised or upset, she just tries to make Holt see that it is what she did wasn't so awful, that the reasons why she did it were really for love of her father and brother, not because she hated them.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Liars we tell ourselves, are far worse than the truth.

Any additional comments?

I gave this 4 out of 5 stars because, first I hold Radclyffe to this really high standard in my head, so for anyone else it would have been a 5, but for her, it just wasn't a 5 from her, it just missed that mark of awesome I am so use to from her. I am not saying it isn't good, it is. It is a very good romance novel. But there is just a spark missing for me that would make it Awesome. I still love Radclyffe, and continue to worship her books, as I have done for going on 15 plus years. I am a huge fan. And this is a good book.

Starlight Surprise

I have always loved Radclyffe's books ever since a friend discovered them in a Barnes and Noble.

The first time I read a Radclyffe book, I was astonished by the writing, both style and subject.

Her best book ever is Beyond the Breakwater.

This book, Desire by Starlight, I thought of as a lightweight at first, compared to her others--But I found I have re-read it several times and even got the Audible version!

The story is compelling to me since I am a writer too. And I have m first signing and reading coming up soon.

I hope I won't faint and collapse like Jenna did!

Unlikely Pair

I very much enjoyed the development of this love story.
An author of lesbian romance novels is paired with a large animal Veterinarian who has never read one. What captured me in this story was the attraction these two women felt for one another. Even though it was unlikely they would get together. The veterinarian Guard,
Down to earth stable study very much knowing who and what she's about. The author has no roots and and her relationships have been very superficial, actually non existent just passes in the night. Radclyffe did a great job of building connections between these two
women, it was a slow build not exactly smooth, valuing what matters most in a relationship.

Too short, felt hurried

These are great characters, both of them--and they are complex. And their stories, backstories, present stories, after stories all deserved more ink. Rad had a terrific canvas here and she painted all over it. She just left a LOT of the space blank. Despite the completely cheesy title, this was one of her better offerings (I find the less "hard c***s" mentioned the better the story), I just felt like it was either over-edited or under written. Too bad, because it could have been off the charts.

Not her best

I normally love all of her books but this one was lacking and a little overdone in my opinion. I almost stopped reading it halfway through but stuck with it the rest of the way. the narrator was horrible and I could barely handle listening to her

No Rest For Authors

Best selling author Cassandra Hart collapses while on a book tour from exhaustion and malnutrition. The doctor prescription is at least three months rest. That same day she gets a call that she has inherited a property in Vermont from an unknown aunt. This is her chance for recovery and a start on her next series. Meeting Gardner Davis, the local veterinarian may give her a chance for a romantic fling. Great narration by Sarah Lawrence of. Radclyffe romance.
