About this listen

A bright new dawn is just around the corner for thousands of tiny nomes when they move into the ruined buildings of an abandoned quarry. Or is it?

Soon strange things begin to happen. Like the tops of puddles growing hard and cold, and the water coming down from the sky in frozen bits. Then humans appear, and they really mess everything up. The quarry is to be re-opened, and the nomes must fight to defend their new home. But how long will they be able to keep the humans at bay, even with the help of the monster Jekub?

This is the second book in the Bromeliad Trilogy.

What a brilliant writer. Very well performed. Best when enjoyed many times. Top marks all around.

Part 2 of the series. Don’t know why I waited so long to listen to this.

I accidentally listened to wings -book 3 first, but that didn't spoil things much. It's a great story, I wish there was a book 4!

great even out of order

In a great story by it's own merit, Stephen Briggs is a one man cast with an innate sense of how Pratchett is to be read. Book 2 finds our pint sized heroes facing human sized obstacles requiring dynamic personal growth to continue this fantastic journey. The story is fun, well paced and as with many by Pratchett, the heroes will need to learn a little more about themselves and the world to reach the end. Perhaps it's no bad thing if to some degree the listener experiences this as well.

Loved it! Relatable characters continue hilariously through this unfolding fantasy adventure.

I love a Terry Pratchett story that makes me laugh. He has a way of turning a phrase that is delightful. Pratchett's gnomes observations of humans made me laugh at some of our idiosyncrasies as humans.

Laugh-out-loud exellent!

Poking fun at English as possible seen/ read by others and life and society in general.

great performance, but the story seemed like more of a short story connector than any real kinda tale

meh

This series is nice, but it is not compelling. While I normally admire Stephen Briggs' performances in the other Discworld books, in this series, he does not vary his voice and so I keep hearing the voice of Granny Weatherwax from the lips of a different character.

Ok, but not brilliant
