About this listen

Moved by the injustice inflicted on a missionary family in the Middle East, young hotshot attorney Brad Carson files an unprecedented civil-rights suit against Saudi Arabia and the ruthless head of the Muttawa, the Islamic Religious Police. The lawsuit unleashes powerful forces that will stop at nothing to vindicate the Arabian kingdom.

Now, as Brad navigates a maze of treachery and deceit, he must gamble his case, career, and the lives of those he loves - including his beautiful and talented co-counsel, Leslie Conners - on the ability of his team to bring justice to one family, challenge the religious intolerance of a nation, and alter the course of international law. He must find a way to accomplish this despite insurmountable odds.

Critic reviews

"There is plenty of room in evangelical Christian fiction for fresh voices, and debut novelist Singer is a promising one....Legal thrillers are gaining ground in the evangelical Christian market, and this is an agreeable addition to the genre." ( Publishers Weekly)

This book was even better than By Reason of Insanity. It moved quickly, kept me on the "edge of my seat," and kept me listening when I ought to have gotten out of the car or gone to sleep. Singer gives some insight into the ins and outs of the legal system, especially as he ties it to how the State Department sometimes works overtime to protect America's "allied nations" (in this case Saudi Arabia), as they try to hide their illegal activities against Americans. Can't wait to read more of his books.

You represented your God well.
Even the narrative was outstanding

Exhilarating and suspenseful

This book was first off very entertaining. The cast of characters come to life and you yearn for more as each one is introduced. At the 3/4 point there's too many threads to the story line and it was difficult to feel like it was going anywhere. The ending brings it home to a solid 4+ rating.

Great Plot - Rambling Story

If you enjoy courtroom action, then you'll like Randy Singer's "Directed Verdict." The plot is very plausible, especially in our current world. There are enough twists and turns to keep one guessing. And Singer's manner of presenting the Gospel is handled in a genuine fashion ... direct, but not obnoxious.
Cameron Beierle is a capable narrator. I felt that he sometimes got his characters confused, but rarely enough so as not to kill the book for me.

If You Like Legal...

Loved it from the beginning and almost regretted some bad comment I read that almost discouraged me. The best author that I ve read his books back to back now looking for a third read.

BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO

2nd book by this author. Both have been hard to put down. The author is able to capture my interest very early in book. The narration is great also, changing voices to capture the different characters. I get captivated into the story, feeling the characters emotions as if I were part of it.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Always well written. Great plot. Love that there is no profanity or sex. It is great to have an author who can actually write rather than ripping the reader off by filling half the book with profanity.

Randy Singer is a great storyteller with content to keep you listening. A bit of action and mystery add interest to an already engaging story, with nothing crass and no cursing. The fight for justice for persecuted Christians along with people coming to faith in Christ is uplifting, and a reminder to pray for the persecuted and the lost.

Good storyline
