About this listen

Landon Reed is an ex-quarterback convicted of organizing a points-shaving scheme. During his time in prison, he found forgiveness and faith and earned his law degree. Now he longs for an opportunity to prove his loyalty and worth. Be careful what you ask for. Harry McNaughton is one of the founding partners of McNaughton & Clay and the only lawyer willing to take a chance employing an ex-con-turned-lawyer. Though Landon initially questions Harry's ethics and methods, it's clear the crusty old lawyer has one of the most brilliant legal minds Landon has ever encountered. The two dive into preparing a defense for one of the highest-profile murder trials Virginia Beach has seen in decades when Harry is gunned down in what appears to be a random mugging. Then two more lawyers are killed when the firm's private jet crashes. Authorities suspect someone has a vendetta against McNaughton & Clay, leaving Landon and the remaining partner as the final targets. As Landon struggles to keep the firm together, he can't help but wonder, is the plot related to a shady case from McNaughton & Clay' s past, or to the murder trial he's neck-deep in now? And will he survive long enough to find out?

Didn't read the printed version.

Sean Phoenix' exposure.

Collins' performance was good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Don't get caught in your own game.

Because I love legal books this was a good book. But, I Loved The Advocate by Singer, his greatest work of the two. :)

I love reading/Listening to a book and trying to see where the author is going. A game of seeing if I may be able to understand what the ending will be before I hit the conclusion. I thought I figured this book out. Was I wrong?! Great story, and I plan to dive into more of Mr. Singers titles.

this is now one of my new favorite books.

I didn't buy the print

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dead Lawyers Tell No Tales?

Don't want to be a spoiler, but I'm really into courtroom scenes.

What about Joey Collins’s performance did you like?

He did a good job. The performance parts I didn't like were the Southern accents, just being from the South, its my pet peeve. However, his performance still was good and he did a nice job differentiating between the genders without being too obvious.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really

Any additional comments?

I enjoy the Christian aspect to Randy Singer's novels, to me, they give the reader another layer of reality to think about. I had predicted most of it until the end but there was a little surprise. This book wasn't as good as Singer's novel The Judge, but it was enjoyable. The first three hours are really slow, I was having my doubts if I could stick with it, but it was worth it.

A bit slow, but stick with it

This is a good addition to the Christian legal thriller genre. The characters are Christian without being preacy, over-the-top, holier-than-thou. They make mistakes but want to do the right thigns.

A lot of the insider trading aspect of the book went over my head, but I was hooked to this book from the beginning. Joey Collins' voice is well-modulated, accents slight and convincing. Very good book!

Good legal thriller

Excellent book...Great story line. However, I found the narration and accents used by the narrator to be very off-putting at times. It took away from my enjoyment and listening experience.

Contrived narration...
