About this listen

At the centermost point of the United States lies the tiny town of Divine, Kansas, boasting a population of just over 1,200, and yet, thousands of tourists flock there every year. So what's so special about this mysterious little town smack-dab in the middle of nowhere?

For newcomer and businesswoman Jo Pepperdine, it's the perfect site for not only a home for women to get back on their feet after being released from prison, but also her Second Chance Mercantile and Divine Baked Goods Shop.

After purchasing the sprawling McDougall property on the outskirts of town, she begins to experience strange and mysterious events in her life and the lives of those around her.

But not everyone is ready to welcome Jo and the "outcasts", and it seems someone is determined to destroy their dream of a second chance, after vandalizing her property and a potentially deadly attack.

Can Jo and her friends get to the bottom of the crimes...or will it take a Divine Intervention to solve the mystery?

I can't wait to listen and find out what happens to Rayleine! From the characters through to the landscape, Hope has done a TREMENDOUS job of building and developing everyone in the story. Wow! I LOVE it when I can listen, and feel as if I'm there!

Good mystery and introduction to the main characters… so looking forward to the next instalment…. My biggest concern is that FF says there are 12 in series as of 2024 and I only see 3 on Audible …. Hopefully they are working on the rest … how about some bundles as the stories are short … like “Cherringham” series⁉️

Great start to series…

First I enjoy Hope Callaghan’s authorship.
Second this series is a huge encouragement to walk in kindness even while dealing with the very unlovely.

Loving the unlovely and helping those you are able to.

I wanted to like this book because I'm always looking for good, clean mysteries but it never happened. I'll give the book an A+ for "squeaky clean" but a very average grade for story line. I may have fallen asleep somewhere in the middle and missed the author's reason why the heroine, Jo Pepperdine, is insanely rich, but I don't think so. I think it was just a glaring gap that was never filled. Jo feels so guilty about the way she accrued her wealth that she starts the halfway house for newly released female felons. Isn't the answer to this mystery kind of important?? As I said, I may have fallen asleep somewhere in the middle....a very logical possibility because I was so bored...but if not, that failure on the author's part is almost unforgivable. The best part about the book is the recipe for Banana Muffins shared at the end. Maybe it's worth your Audible credit to get that. :)
