About this listen

Giovanni Roma was jilted at the altar. Twice. Meeting Natalie is an enchanting distraction - too bad she's engaged to another man. To top it off, Giovanni's mother has a mouth with no filter and is obsessed with finding her son a suitable baby-maker.

Natalie DeMarco is a good cop with one problem. Cold feet. Her fiancé is a decent man, but she's starting to wonder if decent is good enough. Maybe the doubts could be blamed on Giovanni, that guitar-making Italian hunk next door.

Giovanni knows he must do something, but things get out of hand when he learns he's not the only one who objects to the wedding.

Dog Day Wedding is a fast, fun romantic comedy that gives new meaning to the term, "Shotgun Wedding".

Not my favorite but still lots of laughs

This is not family friendly due to language.

Having said that, I liked the story overall. It had its funny moments. I think the use of bad language was a turnoff for me. Mr. Amooi has a great sense of humor and I have enjoyed several of his other Romantic Comedies (my favorite being Kissing Frogs).

This is a story about a groom who is dumped twice at the altar. He has hilarious buddies who are a riot. His mother is way too much for me, but totally works as the author intended.

Narrator Michael Ferraiuolo performs wonderfully. I love his voice! In this performance, my favorite is his depiction of Frederico/Nono. I loved the Italian accent. Mr. Ferraiuolo easily goes from male to female characters and has a great time performing the entire cast written by Mr. Amooi. Overall, I have enjoyed all the narrators chosen by Mr. Amooi for his books. They do not disappoint.

Very Funny Book

STORY REVIEW......

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters are hilariously funny and witty. The character of the mom is priceless. The things she would say. OMG she was so funny. I think the best part of the book was when she gave her son the sage advice to basically go flash the girl she wanted him to hook up with to give her grandchildren. This book is so worth getting and listening to. I loved it !!!

AUDIO REVIEW......

I found the narrator to be very good at reading the book as well as giving the characters life and voice. A well as attitude and humor. Great job.

Fluffy story told from a male POV.

Sweet, light, and fluffy; this book packs the punch of a pancake. This is not a bad thing, but don't expect difficult decisions, misunderstandings, or twist endings. You can see the plot lines coming at you a mile away. And that's okay, because this book isn't about all that; it's about two people falling in love and having their happily ever after. Even the dramatic wedding scene falls under the humorous tone of the book. My only real problem is the extraneous story lines and plot points, such as the boy with the guitar, and Natalie's job as a cop. Totally unnecessary and given too much weight in the grand scheme of things.

I thought Michael Ferraiuolo did an excellent job with the voices and the upper East coast accents. He injected quite a lot of humor with his characterization and timing, and I never mixed up the characters. The only thing I would suggest is reading a bit faster, especially given the area the book is located. I listened at 3x and it sounded perfect.

Fluffy story told from a male POV.

Lighthearted romcom

Fun and sweet and just what I was looking for. Looking for a lighthearted romance with no angst and witty banter then listen to this book. Michael Ferraiuolo as usual was great, giving each character their own voice with an outstanding performance

Cute

Would you be willing to try another book from Rich Amooi? Why or why not?

Not sure. Mr. Amooi tells a very cute story, but I like a little more romantic closeness.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The male narrator did a horrible job. He sounded more like Sean Hayes from Will & Grace; not the the hunky Giovanni Roma that was planted in my mind.

Any additional comments?

Cute read. I usually don't read books by male authors. Mostly because I'm all about the romance. And, let's face it men know nothing about the romance women long for. But, this was a very cute read and had many funny moments.
