About this listen

I spent the night with a hot, grumpy stranger in an airport hotel.

No, not like that. Get your mind out of the gutter. It was just sleeping...and maybe a little cuddling.

Long story short, I embarrassed the heck out of myself, but at least I never have to see him again.

Except the universe is clearly out to get me, because I arrive at my new job on Monday morning, and who’s the first person I see?

Hot stranger himself: Liam Donovan.

AKA, my new boss.

AKA, Annie, you are so freaking screwed.

While the HR rule book doesn’t explicitly say you can’t share a bed with your boss, I can read between the lines—and I need this job.

Which is why I have to pretend that night never happened. Luckily for me, sexy as Liam—excuse me, Mr. Donovan—is, he’s surly, rude, and totally not my type.

Or so I keep telling myself, because I’m starting to think there’s a warm, gooey cinnamon roll with extra frosting lurking beneath that impressive, muscular form.

I promised I’d never choose between my career and love, but when a scandal threatens to break, that promise could prove impossible to keep…

Sweet story

I really enjoyed listening to this book. A romance book about actually falling in love and being in love. The book is funny and witty, and kind of made my heart happy. I can’t wait to read more from Katie Bailey.

Story line is good

The male voice did not fit the character. Besides that I like it, it was cute.

Clean

I’ve having an author with clean romance. I thought the performers both fit the characters. I’m glad they weren’t boring readers. I guess it can be subjective.

loved it!!

this is the first time I have listened to a book by this author and I absolutely loved this clean romantic comedy. when a chance meeting happens between a prim and proper man and a happy-go-lucky girl turns into something unexpected like him being her new boss at her new job in a different state, it will charm you how they wind up handling the" situation". I will definitely be listening to more books by this author however the female narrator was great, I was not impressed by the mail narrator especially when he tried to do female voices he sounded more like Mickey mouse. but despite that, I would highly recommend you get this book and listen to it it had me smiling and laughing out loud a number of times!!

Fun quick romcom

This book was very similar to other story lines. A number of times, I thought I had read it before, but realized there were similarities.

Ok, heard better

It was your typical Romcom type book. I just couldn’t tolerate the male performers version of Annie’s voice, it was awful

Loved the book, but....

Let me start by saying Katie Bailey knocked it out of the park! I loved the story line, the characters, and the clean closed door romance with just the right amount of steam. However, the male voice almost ruined it for me. Not sure if the producer told him that "Over enthusiastic local news anchor" was the vibe, but it did NOT do the character justice and his girl voice was unbearable. So happy to see he wasn't used in the next book! The female narration was great though.

Realistic Characters for the Genre

The storyline is super predictable, as is the case for this genre in general. I like a female lead character that is independent, has a career, and can stand on her own rather than depend on a man to take care of her...when being taken care of is just the icing on top. She isn't an annoying damsel in distress!

Cute but no heat

If I wasn’t used to reading books with heat….. I’d think this one was really good. However for me it was missing that part. It’s a very clean book. I love grumpy/sunshine books!! Love how these two meet each other and then from how they meet again!! It’s amazing how one meeting you have the worst opinion of someone to only later realize they are good people! These two have a really cute story! I enjoyed the narrators as well.

Likeable..

The story was sweet and enjoyable. I wouldn’t mind if it was a little less “chaste,” but that’s ok, I knew. I was signing up for a closed door romance. I liked the female narrator. The male narrator was the main problem for me. He was just way too sing-song-y, and for me his voice did not at all match the visual the author created of Liam. In a few of the softer, quieter moments he was ok, but I actually ended up preferring the female narrator voice the male character over the actual
male narrator. I would try another book by this author, but not with this same male narrator.
